It is a free-to-play multiplayer soccer game built around playable heroes with special abilities. Steam and Epic list it for Windows, though their listed release dates differ by one day.
What is Football Heroes League?
Football Heroes League is a third-person multiplayer soccer game in which players control individual heroes, each with distinct abilities. Run Games pitched it as a blend of soccer tactics and arcade-style action. In the launch announcement reported by VentureBeat, creative director Michael Marzola said the team wanted to combine “the rush of being on the pitch, and the tactics of soccer” with the “fantastical action and approachability of arcade sports games.”
The Steam listing describes ball handling, passing, shooting and tackling, alongside training, AI matches, ranking and quests. It lists online 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 match formats and a rotating selection of free heroes. These are features as described by the storefront, not an independent assessment of how they play.
When and where did it launch?
Run Games revealed the game during the Future Games Show at Gamescom Latam and released it into PC Early Access in May 2025. Steam lists May 1, 2025 as the release date; the Epic Games Store lists May 2, 2025. Both storefronts identify Windows as a supported platform.
#1 Best Overall
At launch, VentureBeat reported that a version 1.0 was planned for mobile and consoles. That was a plan reported in 2025, not confirmation that those versions are currently available.
Is Football Heroes League free?
Yes. Steam and Epic list the base game as free, and Steam identifies in-app purchases. Paid content can change: Steam currently lists a Founder’s Bundle for $29.99, while VentureBeat’s launch-era report described an All Character Bundle with skins, emotes and recolors. Those listings and bundle details may differ over time.
