There are no published system requirements for RuneScape 4 (RS4), and Jagex has not confirmed which platforms it will support. RuneScape Reignited is a separate remastered RuneScape experience; its official page also does not list PC requirements. Jagex has published recommended specifications for the existing RuneScape client, but those figures cannot establish whether a PC will run either unreleased experience.
RS4 and Reignited are different projects
RuneScape 4
Jagex describes RS4 as “a new RuneScape MMORPG, built in Unreal Engine.” It is a separate game from RuneScape, Old School RuneScape, and Dragonwilds, set in Gielinor’s Sixth Age and beginning in Ashenfall. Jagex says RS4 is in early development and still a few years away. It has not announced system requirements or confirmed platforms, saying it is too early to disclose those details. RuneScape Reignited
Reignited is a remastered RuneScape journey that starts again in Lumbridge, with updates and a restoration path. It is not RS4, and its official page does not provide hardware requirements. The page says the next remastered journey parts are due later in 2027 and advertises a full-access period without membership from December 2 to December 12; check Jagex’s page for the current schedule and terms. Published requirements for the current RuneScape client
Jagex lists the following as recommended specifications for the Windows RuneScape client. They apply to that existing client only—not RS4 or Reignited—and are not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or performance level. Check Jagex Support’s recommended specifications.

Jagex’s support page also lists separate requirements for macOS 11+ and mobile. Do not apply the Windows figures to those versions; consult the relevant section of the support page for the platform you use.
How to check your PC against the current RuneScape list
- Check Windows edition and bitness. Open Settings → System → About and look under Windows specifications and Device specifications. Compare the edition and system type with Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.
- Check the processor and RAM. On the same About screen, note the processor model and installed RAM. Compare the processor model with Jagex’s listed CPU guidance; do not treat clock speed alone as proof that two processors perform alike.
- Check the graphics card. Open Task Manager → Performance → GPU to see the detected GPU name. If more than one GPU appears, note which one the game will use. Compare its model to Jagex’s listed graphics options.
- Check free storage. Open Settings → System → Storage and confirm at least 8 GB is available for cache. This is available space, not total drive capacity.
- Check graphics API support. Jagex specifies OpenGL 4.4 and Vulkan 1.1. A GPU model comparison alone does not confirm that both APIs are available on your installed drivers; consult your GPU or computer manufacturer’s documentation if uncertain.
- Compare against the right game’s official page. A PC matching the existing RuneScape client’s recommendations does not thereby qualify as compatible with RS4 or Reignited. Recheck Jagex’s official pages when requirements are published.
Can a PC that runs RuneScape run RS4 or Reignited?
That cannot be determined from the published information. The current client’s recommendations are not a proxy for the needs of a new Unreal Engine game, and they are not listed as Reignited requirements. Jagex has not provided configurations to compare against either project, so there is no reliable pass/fail check for a PC yet.

Jagex’s download page currently lists RuneScape for Windows, Mac, Linux, Steam, the App Store, and Google Play. That describes the current game’s availability, not RS4’s platforms. Check the current RuneScape download options.

What to do before upgrading a PC
- Do not buy or replace a GPU, processor, RAM, or storage drive based on guesses about RS4 or Reignited requirements.
- Keep your PC’s component details handy, then compare them with Jagex’s official requirements once the relevant game’s list is available.
- For current RuneScape, use Jagex’s platform-specific recommendations rather than assuming Windows requirements apply to Mac or mobile.
