What is coming in the Luminance update?
Jagex’s October 3, 2026 preview describes Luminance as a free update and a prelude to the Blood Crystal Saga planned for 2027. The announced features span story, exploration, customization, equipment, building, and Prayer.
A story about fleeing elves
Players will protect Ceridwen and her child, elves fleeing the bounty hunter Morwyn. Jagex has not yet outlined the full quest sequence or its ending in the preview.
Lyre, Songstones, and Fairy Rings
The Lyre and Songstones will let players resonate with music, while Fairy Rings will provide routes to hidden destinations around Ashenfall. The announcement introduces these systems but does not detail their mechanics or unlock requirements.

Character options and new gear
New facial features and elven ears are planned for character customization. The update will also add weapons, armour, and vestiges to find through Harmonised Crystal Fragments; exact item names and stats have not been announced.
A Prifddinas-inspired building kit
A green-and-white building kit inspired by Prifddinas is planned, including new arched roof pieces. The post does not specify the complete set of buildable components.

Prayer, distinct from the RuneScape skill
Prayer is coming to Dragonwilds, but Jagex explicitly says this version is different from the Prayer skill in both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. The company says more details will arrive closer to release, so its functions and progression remain unconfirmed.
When does Luminance release?
Luminance is planned for December 2026. Jagex has not named a specific date in its Summit announcement, so treat December as the announced window rather than a confirmed launch day. The post calls the update free.

Are these the full patch notes?
No. The October Summit post is a feature preview, not a complete final change list. It names the headline content but leaves details such as Prayer’s mechanics, individual gear stats, and the exact release date open. Jagex may provide further specifics closer to launch.
How Luminance differs from the recent live patches
The version 1.0.0.x posts cover post-launch maintenance and fixes; they should not be mistaken for Luminance features. The distinction is useful if you are looking for the latest changes already live rather than the next major content update.

What is planned after Luminance?
The longer-term roadmap is separate from the December update. Jagex describes the Blood Crystal Saga as two chapters: Song of Rebellion and Crown of Night. Song of Rebellion is planned to feature rebel elves, the Nos Clan, the city of Ailddinas, and new creatures. Crown of Night is described as a later conflict against the Nos Clan under an eternal eclipse.
Hunter and modding are 2027 plans
Jagex identifies Hunter as the next skill coming to Dragonwilds in 2027, within the broader roadmap rather than Luminance. Official modding tools, an in-game mod browser, and an installer are also planned for all platforms in the first half of 2027, alongside Song of Rebellion, secure servers, and leaderboards. These are future plans, not features announced for Luminance.
