Jagex surprise-released RuneScape: Dragonwilds into Early Access on April 15, 2025, during a developer deep-dive livestream. It is no longer in Early Access: Steam lists the full release date as September 15, 2026. The game is a survival adventure set in the RuneScape universe, available on PC through Steam.

When did RuneScape: Dragonwilds shadow-drop?

Jagex announced that RuneScape: Dragonwilds was available immediately during its developer deep-dive livestream on April 15, 2025. The launch had previously been expected in Spring 2025. Insider Gaming reported the surprise launch that day.

The word “shadow-drop” refers to that historical Early Access launch—not the game’s current release status. Steam records September 15, 2026 as its full release date and April 15, 2025 as its Early Access release date. Steam’s listing is the place to check the current availability and store details.

What kind of game is Dragonwilds?

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is an open-world survival adventure set on Ashenfall, a new continent in the RuneScape universe. Players explore, gather resources, build, craft, develop skills, complete quests, and fight creatures while pursuing the Dragon Queen. Steam lists both single-player and online co-op, so cooperative play is an option rather than a requirement indicated by the store listing.
