RuneScape 3’s RuneFest 2025 Roadmap: Leagues, Havenhythe, and What Changed by 2026

RuneScape’s 2025 roadmap promised Leagues and Havenhythe. Jagex’s 2026 updates changed the context—and set out a separate slate for 2027.

At RuneFest in March 2025, Jagex announced RuneScape Leagues for later that year and the Havenhythe expansion for early 2026. Those were plans at the time, not a schedule that remained current: by October 2026, Jagex said its direction had changed significantly and that it had delivered almost everything on its 2026 roadmap. Its later plans kept Vampyrium and Skill 30 in view without assigning dates in that preview.

What Jagex announced at RuneFest 2025

Jagex’s March 3, 2025 announcement set out a mix of near-term updates and larger RuneScape plans. Its headline additions were a limited-time Leagues mode for RuneScape and Havenhythe, a new area expansion scheduled for early 2026. The dates below describe what Jagex announced then; the announcement alone does not confirm that each item was later released on schedule.

RuneScape Leagues

Leagues was presented as an accelerated-progression, limited-time mode coming to RuneScape later in 2025. The format was associated with Old School RuneScape; Jagex said the RuneScape version would feature tasks, rare drops, and powerful unlocks. Jagex’s RuneFest 2025 announcement introduced the mode as part of its plans for the year.

Havenhythe and Hunter 110

Jagex described Havenhythe as a new region east of Morytania, planned for early 2026. The expansion was to include distinct locations and biomes, quests, bosses, skilling activities, and a storyline involving Vampyres. Hunter 110 was announced alongside it. The story was also expected to continue into Vampyrium in 2027, according to the original plan.

Other updates on the 2025 slate

The same March announcement listed Pharaoh’s Folly, Eclipse of the Heart, 110 Runecrafting, 110 Crafting, and augmentable tools among RuneScape updates planned for 2025. These belong to the original announcement’s slate; they should not be read as a retrospective confirmation of delivery.

How Jagex organized its plans in January 2026

In a January 19, 2026 overview, Jagex divided its plans into two tracks: a content roadmap and the integrity-focused Road to Restoration. The content roadmap included a player-avatar refresh; Havenhythe released in multiple parts, with quests and early-game bosses; Hunter 110; Player-Owned House changes; Construction 120 with a furniture recipe system; and Leagues II in autumn. Jagex’s January overview is the later snapshot of those stated plans.

Content roadmap

  • Havenhythe: a multi-part expansion with quests and early-game bosses.
  • Hunter 110: the skill update originally paired with Havenhythe.
  • Player-owned housing: planned changes to Player-Owned Houses.
  • Construction 120: an expansion of the skill with a furniture recipe system.
  • Leagues II: planned for autumn 2026.
  • Player avatars: a refresh was included in the content plans.

Road to Restoration

The separate Road to Restoration focused on integrity and core systems rather than new regions or quests. Jagex listed UI and visual updates, combat modernization, Plugin API support, rebalancing, changes to dailyscape and Auras, and Grand Exchange improvements as areas of work.

Jagex also said nearly 125,000 players voted in November 2025 before Treasure Hunter was removed. That figure is Jagex’s report of participation in that vote, not a measure of active RuneScape players. The same January release cited more than 300 million player accounts across the franchise; account totals likewise do not mean that many people are currently playing.

What changed by October 2026

In its October 2, 2026 RuneFest preview, Jagex said its direction had changed significantly since RuneFest 2025 and that it had delivered on almost everything promised in its 2026 roadmap by that point. It said Vampyrium and Skill 30 remained in its future plans, but would not be part of the 2026 Summit presentation; the preview did not give dates for them. Jagex linked the shift to lessons from its 2025 experiments and the removal of Treasure Hunter. The RuneFest 2026 preview is therefore the key qualification to the older roadmap: the March 2025 schedule is historical, not a current forecast.

Jagex’s separate 2027 plans

Jagex’s October 5, 2026 RuneFest release outlined a distinct 2027 plan. It named three story arcs—Hoard of Dragons, City of Gnomes, and Secrets of Karamja—alongside an Agility rework, new skilling and solo bosses, new areas, and a Grandmaster quest. The release also said the Plugin API was launching in October. These are later announcements, not details from the RuneFest 2025 reveal. Jagex’s October 5 release sets out that newer slate.

How to read the original roadmap now

  • For the March 2025 reveal: the main forward-looking announcements were RuneScape Leagues later that year and Havenhythe in early 2026, with Hunter 110 attached to the expansion.
  • For the January 2026 plan: Jagex presented content updates separately from Road to Restoration integrity work.
  • For the latest status in the cited announcements: Jagex said in October 2026 that its direction had shifted and most of the 2026 roadmap had been delivered; its October release then described a separate 2027 slate.
