Neither the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB nor the GeForce RTX 5060 8GB is a consistent winner in every game. The RX 9060 XT 8GB leads in several TechSpot comparisons, while ComputerBase’s 1080p results show the RTX 5060 ahead in some games and the Radeon ahead in others. Choose based on the games and settings you use, then compare the current local prices and the exact card models available to you.

The short answer: compare the games you actually play

These are both 8GB graphics cards, and the available comparisons do not establish a universal gaming-performance winner. The RX 9060 XT 8GB pulls ahead in several results reported by TechSpot, including particular settings in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. ComputerBase’s more recent 1080p results are mixed: the RTX 5060 leads in ARC Raiders, the Radeon leads in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and the two are nearly tied in Anno 117 rasterization.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

That makes a single “best GPU” label less useful than a game-by-game decision. Check results for the titles you play at your resolution and quality settings, and distinguish standard rasterized rendering from ray tracing and upscaling. A lead in one chart does not predict a lead in another game or test condition.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

It also means that the right choice can depend on how you use the card rather than on an overall ranking. A player whose regular games resemble TechSpot’s Radeon-favoring examples may reach a different conclusion from someone focused on ARC Raiders, where ComputerBase measured higher averages for the RTX 5060 in both listed rendering modes. If your favorite game appears in neither test suite, these comparisons provide context, not a direct answer for that title.

What the benchmark evidence says

TechSpot: Radeon wins in several reported comparisons

TechSpot’s 2025 comparison includes the RX 9060 XT 8GB and RTX 5060 among four generations of mainstream GPUs. In Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the Radeon was 21% faster at 1080p and 18% faster at 1440p under the Low preset. Under High, TechSpot reported a smaller Radeon lead: 5% at 1080p and 10% at 1440p. These percentages describe that review’s game, presets, and test conditions—not a general performance advantage across other games. Read TechSpot’s comparison.

The difference between the Low and High results is worth noticing. The same pair of cards did not show one fixed percentage lead across those settings: TechSpot reported a larger Radeon advantage under Low than under High at 1080p, while the 1440p result also varied by preset. When you consult a benchmark, keep the resolution and graphics preset attached to the number. “The Radeon is faster in Cyberpunk” leaves out important context; the useful comparison is which card performed better in the specific game version, resolution, and preset you plan to use.

TechSpot also found the RX 9060 XT 8GB ahead in its Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered High and Very High comparisons and in several listed Rainbow Six Siege X presets. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the latest cards were close under the described Ultra preset, with no more than 1–2 FPS separating them. These results are useful if those games and settings resemble your own, but they do not settle performance in an untested title.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Those examples cover different kinds of outcomes: a reported Radeon lead in some tests, and a near tie in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. A near tie is useful information too. If a source reports a gap of only 1–2 FPS under its particular Ultra test, it is not evidence of a decisive advantage for either card in every game. It instead suggests checking the rest of your priorities, such as the results for your other games and the precise card models and prices you can buy.

ComputerBase: the lead changes from game to game

ComputerBase reports 1080p results for both cards, with separate charts for rasterization and ray tracing. The figures below are average FPS from its specific test setup and settings. They illustrate why results should be compared by game and rendering mode rather than merged into a universal ranking.

Game and rendering mode RX 9060 XT 8GB RTX 5060 8GB Higher reported average
Anno 117, rasterization 68.2 FPS 67.4 FPS RX 9060 XT 8GB
Anno 117, ray tracing 55.0 FPS 55.5 FPS RTX 5060 8GB
ARC Raiders, rasterization 120.7 FPS 134.1 FPS RTX 5060 8GB
ARC Raiders, ray tracing 93.0 FPS 111.0 FPS RTX 5060 8GB
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, rasterization 75.3 FPS 66.2 FPS RX 9060 XT 8GB
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, ray tracing 61.9 FPS 58.2 FPS RX 9060 XT 8GB

The results are close in Anno 117, favor the RTX 5060 in both listed ARC Raiders modes, and favor the Radeon in both listed Assassin’s Creed Shadows modes. The table contains individual game measurements, not a pooled average or a forecast for your PC. ComputerBase’s page also presents results with DLSS or FSR Quality; check the chart and settings context before comparing an upscaled result with native rendering. See ComputerBase’s 1080p results.

The small Anno 117 rasterization gap is a good example of why it helps to read the actual figures rather than just the order of bars. ComputerBase measured 68.2 FPS for the Radeon and 67.4 FPS for the GeForce in that test. In the same game’s ray-tracing test, the RTX 5060’s average was 55.5 FPS compared with 55.0 FPS for the RX 9060 XT. The higher figure changes with the rendering mode, and both gaps are small in the reported results.

ARC Raiders produces a clearer difference in this set: the RTX 5060 measured 134.1 FPS in rasterization against 120.7 FPS for the Radeon, and 111.0 FPS with ray tracing against 93.0 FPS. Assassin’s Creed Shadows points the other way: the RX 9060 XT measured 75.3 FPS in rasterization against 66.2 FPS, and 61.9 FPS with ray tracing against 58.2 FPS. These are still measurements from one review setup. They show why the title matters; they do not establish what every player will see on a different system.

AMD’s figures are vendor-produced, not independent confirmation

AMD’s competitive brief documents a May 2025 1080p comparison of the RX 9060 XT 8GB and RTX 5060 8GB in Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Starfield. AMD specifies a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32 GB of DDR5-6000 memory, Windows 11 Pro, AMD driver 25.10, and NVIDIA driver 576.52. AMD also cautions that system configurations can vary and produce different results.

Because this is manufacturer-produced material, treat it as AMD’s own testing rather than independent validation. Its listed setup and game selection do not replace results from an independent test or your own game list. Read AMD’s competitive brief.

The test details matter when you compare AMD’s figures with another review. AMD identifies a particular processor, memory configuration, operating system, drivers, date, and 1080p resolution. That makes the context more specific, but it does not make AMD’s results a neutral, independently validated comparison. A reader should keep the publisher and test conditions visible rather than lifting an AMD result into a general claim about how the two cards perform everywhere.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

AMD’s documented game list is also useful as a list of titles to investigate, not as proof that the same ordering applies to all of them on every machine. Results can differ with the game build, driver, test rig, settings, and whether ray tracing or upscaling is in use. For a purchasing decision, compare an independent result in the games you care about when one is available, and treat vendor-produced figures as vendor testing.

Both cards have 8GB: why the distinction matters

This comparison is specifically between the RX 9060 XT 8GB and RTX 5060 8GB. The RX 9060 XT is also sold in a separate 16GB configuration; its performance or memory results must not be substituted for the 8GB card’s results. When checking a review, product listing, or benchmark chart, verify the memory configuration rather than relying on the GPU family name alone.

That distinction is easy to lose when a review headline or store listing abbreviates the product name. A chart for an RX 9060 XT may refer to the 8GB card or the separate 16GB card. Confirm the exact model in the test or listing before using its result to compare against the 8GB RTX 5060. This article’s matchup is not a comparison with an RX 9060 XT 16GB, and results for that version would answer a different question.

TechSpot notes that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered at Very High demanded more than 10GB of VRAM even at 1080p in its test. That is evidence about this game and setting, not a rule that every game needs more than 8GB. It does show why 8GB can be a meaningful constraint in some demanding settings: available memory may affect whether a particular texture or quality setting is comfortable, regardless of which card has the higher average FPS in another chart.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not turn that one example into a blanket prediction that either card will run out of memory in every demanding game. The documented point is narrower: TechSpot reported demand above 10GB for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered at Very High, even at 1080p. If you play that game, or want similar settings in another title, seek evidence for the exact card and setting rather than assuming an average-FPS result tells the whole story.

If you play this title, or another game that pushes memory use at your preferred settings, look for testing of the exact 8GB model and settings you intend to use. Do not infer how the 16GB RX 9060 XT behaves from an 8GB review, or vice versa. Since both cards in this matchup have 8GB, the memory-capacity label alone does not distinguish them; the specific game and settings remain important.

How to choose for your games and settings

  1. Start with your regular games. Write down the titles you play most, especially demanding releases or games where you care about ray tracing. Give more weight to evidence for those games than to a broad ranking based on an unrelated test suite.

A short list is more useful than trying to find a single benchmark number that represents every game. Include the titles you return to often, not just a game used in a review. If a game is not represented in TechSpot’s or ComputerBase’s examples, note that the cited results cannot establish a winner for it; look for a direct comparison in that title before making it the deciding factor.

  2. Match the resolution and preset. Compare 1080p with 1080p, 1440p with 1440p, and the same quality preset where possible. TechSpot’s Cyberpunk 2077 results show that the size of the Radeon lead differed between Low and High, so changing the preset can change the comparison.

Keep the full label with every result you write down: game, resolution, preset, and the two card configurations. For Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, for example, the reported Radeon lead was 21% at 1080p and 18% at 1440p on Low, versus 5% at 1080p and 10% at 1440p on High. Those numbers cannot be detached from their stated conditions and used as a percentage advantage in an unrelated game.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  3. Separate rendering modes. Check whether a chart measures rasterization or ray tracing. ComputerBase’s ARC Raiders and Assassin’s Creed Shadows figures show that the relative ordering can differ by game, even though each game’s listed modes happen to favor the same card in that suite. Treat each mode as its own decision point.

For Anno 117, even the slightly higher average switches between cards when moving from rasterization to the listed ray-tracing test: the Radeon is at 68.2 FPS versus 67.4 for the RTX 5060 in rasterization, while the RTX 5060 is at 55.5 versus 55.0 in ray tracing. Check the mode you actually intend to use instead of assuming that a card’s result in one mode automatically carries over to another.

  4. Check native and upscaled results separately. A result using DLSS or FSR Quality is not directly interchangeable with native rendering. Confirm which mode was enabled and compare like with like; an upscaling option should be part of your decision only if you intend to use it.

ComputerBase’s page includes results with DLSS or FSR Quality as well as separate rasterization and ray-tracing charts. If one number is for native rendering and another is for an upscaled mode, label them separately. Otherwise, the comparison may appear to show a card advantage when it is actually comparing different image-quality or rendering conditions.

    • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
  5. Look beyond average FPS when data is available. Average FPS helps compare throughput, but it does not describe every aspect of frame delivery. Check 1% lows when a trustworthy source provides them, and avoid assuming that a lead in average FPS also means a lead in every smoothness measure.

The ComputerBase figures in this article are average FPS measurements. They should be read as such, not as a guarantee about every moment of play or a complete account of frame delivery. If smoothness is important to you, look for a reliable review that provides additional measures, including 1% lows, for the same game and settings. Do not fill in a missing measurement by guessing from the average.

  6. Compare the actual local price and card listing. No current regional street price is established by these benchmark sources. Compare the prices available to you at the time of purchase, and verify that the listing is for the 8GB RX 9060 XT or 8GB RTX 5060 you intend to buy.

There is no supported price figure here that can settle which card is the better value in your area. Retail price, availability, and the exact add-in-board model need to be checked when you are ready to buy. Compare the prices of the actual listings side by side; do not assume that a performance lead in one review automatically makes a card the better purchase at every price.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  7. Check the exact add-in-board model before ordering. The benchmark comparison is between GPU models, not a systematic evaluation of every retail card. Review the specific card’s dimensions, cooler, warranty, and power requirements against your case, support expectations, and power supply.

Those details are not established by the game charts, and they can differ between retail versions. Before you order, verify the product listing and manufacturer information for the exact card in your cart. A review of GPU performance does not confirm that a particular board fits your case, suits your power supply, or offers the warranty you want.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

What the results do—and do not—settle

The evidence supports a conditional recommendation, not a universal one. TechSpot’s examples make the RX 9060 XT 8GB a strong candidate for players whose priorities align with its reported wins, including the specified Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty settings. ComputerBase’s measurements provide counterexamples: the RTX 5060 8GB is ahead in its ARC Raiders results, while the Radeon is ahead in its Assassin’s Creed Shadows results.

Neither source establishes which card offers better value in every market. Retail availability and price change by region and over time, and these performance results do not provide a systematic comparison of board-level power draw, noise, dimensions, or warranty. Those are separate checks against the precise models you can actually buy.

The same restraint applies to claims about a whole category of games. The cited results name particular games and settings; they do not prove that the RX 9060 XT always wins at 1080p, that the RTX 5060 always wins with ray tracing, or that one card is the better choice for every player. ComputerBase’s own figures include both close measurements and larger game-specific differences, while TechSpot’s Cyberpunk results show that even one title’s reported gap changes by preset and resolution.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A practical final check is to make a small comparison sheet before buying: list your priority games, your target resolution and preset, whether you expect to use ray tracing, and the exact local price of each 8GB card. Add a result only when its game, settings, rendering mode, and memory configuration match what you are considering. If the evidence is close or missing for your main game, avoid treating a small difference elsewhere as decisive.

Finally, use benchmark results to narrow the choice, not to replace checking the product you will receive. The GPU name identifies the comparison, but the retail board has its own dimensions, cooler, warranty, and power requirements. Once you have verified those practical details and the listing’s 8GB configuration, the better buy is the card that fits your games and settings at the price available where you live.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which card is faster overall, the RX 9060 XT 8GB or RTX 5060 8GB?

The cited results do not establish one universal winner. TechSpot reports RX 9060 XT 8GB leads in several comparisons, while ComputerBase’s 1080p measurements favor the RTX 5060 in ARC Raiders, the Radeon in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and show close results in Anno 117 rasterization. The answer depends on your games, settings, and test conditions.

Which card performed better in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty?

In TechSpot’s 2025 comparison, the RX 9060 XT 8GB was 21% faster at 1080p and 18% faster at 1440p on Low. On High, TechSpot reported a 5% Radeon lead at 1080p and 10% at 1440p. These are results for that review’s conditions, not a general advantage in other games.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do both graphics cards have 8GB of VRAM?

Yes. This matchup is the RX 9060 XT 8GB versus the RTX 5060 8GB. AMD also sells a separate RX 9060 XT 16GB model, so verify the exact configuration in a benchmark or store listing before comparing it.

Is 8GB enough for gaming at 1080p?

The cited evidence does not support a universal yes-or-no answer. TechSpot reported that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered at Very High demanded more than 10GB even at 1080p in its test, but that is a game- and setting-specific example, not a rule for every title. Look for testing of the exact game and settings you plan to use.

Should I compare DLSS or FSR Quality results with native rendering?

Keep them separate. ComputerBase presents results with DLSS or FSR Quality as well as separate rasterization and ray-tracing charts. Compare like with like, and factor an upscaling mode into your choice only if you expect to use it.

Which card is better value for the money?

The cited performance results do not establish current value in every region. Check the local price and availability of the exact RX 9060 XT 8GB and RTX 5060 8GB board models you can buy, then weigh that against results for your games and settings.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

There is no universal winner: TechSpot reports several RX 9060 XT 8GB leads, while ComputerBase’s 1080p results vary by game and rendering mode. Compare the exact 8GB cards in the games, settings, and modes you use, then choose based on the local price and the specific board’s fit, power requirements, cooler, and warranty.
