These cards are not in exactly the same performance class
The RTX 5070 Ti is a higher-tier product. The RX 9070 is better understood as an alternative to the RTX 5070, particularly for buyers focused on conventional rasterized gaming. The RX 9070 XT, which launched at $599, is much closer to the RTX 5070 Ti: broad testing found it roughly 5% slower on average across a 55-game comparison.

That makes the RX 9070 versus RTX 5070 Ti comparison primarily a value question. The NVIDIA card delivers more performance and more advanced software features, while the AMD card may deliver enough performance for a 1440p system at a much lower cost.
Gaming performance
1440p rasterized gaming
For games rendered without ray tracing, the RX 9070 is a strong 1440p card. Testing of the RX 9070 found it averaged 4% faster than the RTX 5070 at 1440p and 8% faster at 4K in an 18-game rasterized test. That result shows why AMD’s card can be attractive at its own price tier, but it does not make the RX 9070 a normal RTX 5070 Ti performance equivalent.
The RTX 5070 Ti has substantially more processing resources and higher memory bandwidth, so it is generally the faster card in rasterized gaming. The difference will vary by game, resolution, CPU and graphics settings. At 1080p, a processor bottleneck can make the cards appear closer; at 1440p and 4K, the GPU difference becomes easier to see.

For exact results, consult benchmarks for the games you actually play. A single average cannot account for different engines, drivers, presets and upscaling modes. Radeon can perform especially well in some rasterized titles, while the RTX 5070 Ti benefits from its greater performance headroom in demanding games.
4K gaming
Both cards can play many games at 4K, but neither should be treated as a guaranteed native-4K Ultra card for every modern release. The RX 9070 will often need sensible settings or upscaling in demanding titles. The RTX 5070 Ti has more performance headroom and is the better choice for high-refresh 4K, especially when ray tracing is enabled.
At 4K, memory bandwidth, texture settings, ray-tracing effects and upscaling behavior matter more. Both cards’ 16GB buffers are useful, but 16GB does not guarantee smooth performance in every future game or eliminate stutter caused by an overly demanding texture pack or ray-tracing workload.
Ray tracing
The RTX 5070 Ti is the safer choice for ray-traced and path-traced games. In testing of the RX 9070 against the RTX 5070, AMD’s card averaged 16% slower at 1440p and 28% slower at 4K across six ray-tracing games in the tested upscaled results. Because the RTX 5070 Ti is faster than the RTX 5070, its practical advantage over the RX 9070 will generally be larger, although the exact gap depends on the game and settings.
Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 GPU hierarchy illustrates the class difference with a 1440p Ultra ray-tracing score of 66.2 for the RTX 5070 Ti versus 47.6 for the RX 9070. This is a test-suite ranking, not a universal FPS prediction. Games such as Black Myth: Wukong, Alan Wake II and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle can expose a much larger gap than lighter ray-tracing workloads.
DLSS 4 versus FSR 4
The RTX 5070 Ti supports DLSS Super Resolution, DLAA, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation and NVIDIA Reflex features. DLSS is also supported in a broad range of games, which makes the ecosystem particularly useful for buyers who regularly play demanding ray-traced titles.
Multi Frame Generation can raise the displayed frame rate by generating multiple frames between traditionally rendered frames. That can make supported games look smoother, but generated frames should not be compared directly with native-rendered frames. Input latency, image quality and the quality of the underlying rendered frames still matter.
The RX 9070 supports AMD’s machine-learning-based FSR 4 on compatible RX 9000-series hardware, as well as Radeon Anti-Lag 2 and Fluid Motion Frames. FSR 4 is a significant improvement over earlier FSR implementations and can produce competitive image quality in supported games. However, DLSS still has broader support, and the two technologies do not behave identically in every title.

VRAM, memory and longevity
Both cards include 16GB of graphics memory, so neither has the 12GB capacity disadvantage of the RTX 5070. That makes both more comfortable choices for high-resolution textures and modern games than a similarly priced 12GB card.
The RX 9070 uses GDDR6 with a 256-bit bus and up to 640GB/s of bandwidth, supported by 64MB of Infinity Cache. The RTX 5070 Ti uses faster GDDR7 on the same 256-bit bus and offers approximately 896GB/s of raw bandwidth, with a 48MB L2 cache.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Powered by GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
- Integrated with 16GB GDDR7 256bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0
- WINDFORCE cooling system
Capacity is a tie; memory speed and raw bandwidth favor the RTX 5070 Ti. Neither specification guarantees long-term performance. Future games may still require reduced ray-tracing settings, lower texture settings or upscaling, and VRAM usage varies significantly by engine and resolution.

The RX 9070 has a 220W typical board-power rating, compared with 300W total graphics power for the RTX 5070 Ti. AMD recommends a 650W system PSU, while NVIDIA recommends 750W. The RX 9070 therefore has an easier fit in systems with limited power or cooling capacity.
AMD specifies two 8-pin power connectors for the RX 9070. NVIDIA specifies two PCIe 8-pin cables through an adapter, or a 300W-or-greater PCIe Gen 5 cable, for the RTX 5070 Ti. Use a reputable modern PSU, follow the card manufacturer’s cable instructions and avoid relying on a single daisy-chained cable when separate cables are recommended.
These wattage figures are not guarantees for every system. The CPU, PSU age, transient behavior, case airflow and individual board design also matter. A factory-overclocked triple-fan card may be longer, thicker and quieter than a compact model, but it can also cost more and require additional clearance.
Before buying, check the exact model’s length, slot thickness, power-connector position, cooler design, warranty, return policy and factory power limit. Specifications can differ substantially between board partners; not every RX 9070 or RTX 5070 Ti behaves the same acoustically or thermally.

The RTX 5070 Ti is the stronger general-purpose choice for streaming and many creator workloads. It includes two ninth-generation NVENC encoders and benefits from CUDA and OptiX support in applications that use NVIDIA’s software ecosystem. Those advantages can matter more than gaming FPS if you edit video, render 3D scenes or use software that specifically requires CUDA acceleration.
The RX 9070 supports AV1 encoding and decoding and has an improved media engine, making it capable of modern streaming and recording workflows. Application support and optimization are not identical across AMD and NVIDIA, however. Check the exact programs you use before treating gaming performance as a prediction of creator performance.
Price and value
At launch, AMD priced the RX 9070 at $549, while NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Ti launched at $749.99. That is a $200 difference, or roughly 36% of the RTX 5070 Ti’s launch price. AMD’s RX 9070 XT launched at $599, only $50 above the RX 9070 and therefore an important value check.
Those are launch prices, not a promise of current retail pricing. GPU prices can change sharply by country, retailer, model and stock level, and 2026 US pricing for RTX 50-series cards has been volatile. Check the exact street price and date before applying a recommendation.
