Yes—if you want a punishing, atmospheric survival shooter, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is a stronger recommendation on PS5 than it was at its original launch. TechRadar’s November 2025 review, played on PS5 Pro, describes a year of updates as improving the experience and praises the game’s bleak open world, visuals, and DualSense support. But the PS5 release is not a promise of a bug-free game, and its steep difficulty is a poor fit for players who want a brisk, forgiving FPS.
Is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 worth playing on PS5 now?
For players who enjoy exploring hostile territory, scavenging supplies, and surviving dangerous encounters, the PS5 release offers a compelling way into the Zone. TechRadar’s reviewer praised the atmosphere, visual presentation, and survival-focused open-world loop after nearly 50 hours of play on PS5 Pro. That time included missions, side quests, optional activities, and exploration; the reviewer also had prior experience with the Xbox Series X version. These are the impressions of one reviewer, not an independent test of every PS5 configuration.

The trade-off is a game that expects patience and care. You manage resources, contend with weapon and gear wear, and can be punished hard for a mistake. TechRadar found the difficulty steep and at times unfair, particularly when a setback follows a long stretch without a recent save. If you want a tightly staged campaign or a forgiving power fantasy, the Zone may feel more frustrating than immersive.
Is the PS5 version better than the launch version?
The PS5 release arrived on November 20, 2025, one year after the game’s original launch, according to GSC Game World’s announcement and the PlayStation Store listing. TechRadar says the original release had bugs and performance issues and that a year of updates improved the game. GSC has also published a major Update 2.0 announcement.

- Enter the stadium and take part of one of the biggest competitions across 34 sports: from swimming, soccer, extreme bike, weightlifting, trampoline and much more!
- Defend your own country and visit the World: United States, Australia, Japan, France…
- Train yourself alone or compete with your friends!
- An enhanced version of “30 Sport Games in 1”, with revamped design, new games and more customisation!
That history makes the PS5 launch a later entry point than the original release, but it does not establish that every current PS5 player will have a flawless experience. The review’s positive account is specific to the reviewer’s PS5 Pro play. User reports on the PlayStation Store differ sharply about the experience after Update 2.0, and those individual reviews are not a systematic measure of defects. There is not enough evidence here to call the current PS5 build either bug-free or broadly broken.
Does S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 run well on PS5?
TechRadar describes three reported resolution and frame-rate targets. They are targets reported by the reviewer, not independently verified locked performance or a guarantee of what you will see in play.

| Console and mode | Reported target | What to take from it |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 Performance | 2K at 60 FPS | Prioritizes a higher frame-rate target over the listed quality-mode resolution. |
| PS5 Quality | 4K at 30 FPS | Prioritizes the higher listed resolution at a lower frame-rate target. |
| PS5 Pro Performance | 4K at 60 FPS | Combines the higher listed resolution and frame-rate targets, as reported by TechRadar. |
The available review figures do not establish locked frame rates or identical results across scenes, displays, or consoles. The PS5 Pro result should not be read as a performance guarantee for base PS5.
What is different on PS5 Pro?
PlayStation identifies S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 as PS5 Pro Enhanced. In TechRadar’s review, the Pro performance mode targets 4K at 60 FPS, compared with the base PS5 performance target of 2K at 60 FPS. The review praises the PS5 presentation, but its hands-on performance account was on PS5 Pro, not a comparative test of both consoles.

How do players rate the PS5 version?
On October 8, 2026, the PlayStation Store listing showed an average of 4.44 out of 5 from 12,377 ratings. That is a dated, mutable user-rating snapshot, not a critic score or a measure of technical stability; the individual reports include conflicting views of the post-Update 2.0 experience.
