GSC Game World released Patch 1.0.1 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl on PC and Xbox on November 29, 2024. The studio said it addressed more than 650 bugs and issues, with fixes spanning crashes, mission blockers, NPC behavior, balance, and interface and input problems. That total is the developer’s own figure, not an independently audited count.
When did Patch 1.0.1 come out?
GSC Game World announced Patch 1.0.1 as live on PC and Xbox on November 29, 2024. Its announcement called it the game’s first fix patch and said it addressed “over 650 different bugs and issues.” GSC’s Steam announcement is dated November 29. The official support notes now display March 10, 2025; they do not explain the difference, so that later displayed date should not be mistaken for a second release.
What did the patch fix?
The patch was a broad stability and progression pass rather than a single-feature update. Its official notes cover technical stability, AI, quests, economy and combat balance, controls, menus, gear, and the open world.
Crashes and performance
GSC said it fixed approximately 100 crashes, including issues involving potential memory leaks and EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors. It also addressed NPC performance problems and possible out-of-memory crashes in crowded areas. These are counts and descriptions from the developer’s notes, not independent measurements.

NPC behavior and combat
NPCs could get stuck or fail to reach mission locations, blocking interaction or progression. The notes also list fixes for combat behavior and other AI problems. These changes matter most where an NPC’s location or actions were necessary to continue a mission.
Missions and progression blockers
GSC listed fixes across the main story, side missions, and open-world encounters. Examples include objectives that could not be completed, missing interactions or mission markers, stuck NPCs or cutscenes, and problems with doors and mission items. The support notes estimate approximately 120 additional issues in the main line, side missions, and encounters beyond the individually named examples.

Repairs, rewards, and Rookie difficulty
The patch notes say weapon and armor repair costs decreased, artifact sale values increased, and rewards for most missions rose to two or three times their previous amounts. On Rookie difficulty, the notes specify a 23 percent decrease in weapon damage and a 12.5 percent increase in armor durability. These figures describe the changes listed by GSC; they are not independently measured outcomes across player saves or situations.
Controls, menus, gear, and the world
Other named fixes covered gamepad dead zones, settings and menus, cutscenes, character models, interactable objects, player gear and inventory, voiceover and facial animation, world textures, and movement. The notes do not say that players need a new controller or other hardware to use the patch.

Is Patch 1.0.1 the latest S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 update?
No. Patch 1.0.1 is an early, historical update. GSC published Update 2.0 on September 1, 2026, describing it as the biggest overhaul since launch. The developer said it included more than 500 bug fixes alongside an Unreal Engine 5.5.4 upgrade, A-Life improvements, new features, and visual changes. GSC’s Update 2.0 notes provide the later update context.
The 650-plus figure for Patch 1.0.1 and the 500-plus figure for Update 2.0 are both developer-reported. They describe different updates and should not be treated as an apples-to-apples measure of which patch was better.
