1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsGSC Game World’s December 19, 2024 announcement for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Patch 1.1.1 named two crash-related fixes: one for a crash some players encountered while loading a save, and another for some issues that could cause a crash during shader loading. The notes do not claim to fix every crash or guarantee that either problem was eliminated for every player.
What did Patch 1.1.1 address?
GSC’s Patch 1.1.1 announcement on Steam listed two targeted fixes:
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 |
|
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl - PC | $62.58 | Buy on Amazon |
| 2 |
|
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl Bd. 2: Inferno (Der offizielle Roman zum PC-Horror-Game) | $91.25 | Buy on Amazon |
- Crashing while loading a save: The team said it fixed “a crash on save load that some players were experiencing.”
- Crashing during shader loading: It said it fixed “some of the issues that led to a crash during shader loading for some players.”
The wording matters: the shader note refers to some contributing issues, and both notes qualify the affected players. GSC did not say that all save-load or shader-loading crashes were resolved, and it did not describe the underlying causes or report a measured change in crash rates.
Did it fix the shader-loading crash?
Patch 1.1.1 addressed some issues that could lead to a crash during shader loading. The announcement does not promise a universal fix, identify which players or systems were affected, or establish that every shader-loading crash was resolved. It therefore supports saying the patch addressed shader-loading crash issues—not that it fixed every shader crash.

When did the patch arrive, and on which platforms?
The Steam announcement is dated December 19, 2024. GSC said the update would release on Steam that day, with fixes to be added to other stores and consoles afterward. That describes the planned rollout sequence; it does not give exact deployment times for each platform. The announcement states no geographic restriction.
Patch 1.1.1 is a historical update, not evidence of the game’s current version. The announcement and the available official patch information do not establish which build is current today.
Rank #2
How does 1.1.1 relate to Patch 1.1?
GSC’s Patch 1.1 notes describe a broader update covering areas such as A-Life behavior, missions and story progression, side missions, gameplay, saves, achievements, and other fixes. Patch 1.1.1 followed as a narrower hotfix with the two crash-related areas above. The broader Patch 1.1 notes do not establish that later crash problems were all solved.
What if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 still crashes?
The 1.1.1 announcement explains what GSC said it addressed, but it does not diagnose an individual crash or provide troubleshooting steps. A crash after this historical patch cannot be attributed to a particular cause based on those notes alone. To assess a current problem, distinguish the trigger—such as loading a save or shader loading—from the game build and platform involved; the announcement does not supply platform-specific diagnostic guidance.
