The announcement described a three-part network design and a set of Innovator tasks, but it is a historical launch notice—not confirmation that the testnet, quests, or reward claims are still open.
What was Saga’s Pegasus testnet?
Pegasus was presented as Saga’s incentivized testnet for building and testing Web3 applications, with a focus on gaming. In its October 30, 2023 launch announcement, Saga described support for configurable Realms and introduced the Saga Chainlet Realm.
The announcement outlined three components:
- Security chain: the security layer in Saga’s proposed architecture.
- Platform chain: the developer-facing layer for launching and maintaining Chainlets.
- Chainlets: application-oriented environments where apps and end-user activity would run.
Saga said the first Chainlet stack was intended to be EVM-based, supporting Solidity and Ethereum developers, while the project’s longer-term goal was to support other virtual-machine environments. These are capabilities as described at launch, not a statement about the network’s present configuration.
How did the announced airdrop work?
Saga said the campaign would consider developers, end users, validators, and community members for a possible SAGA-token airdrop based on launch quests and helpful ecosystem behavior. Innovators were identified as the first group expected to receive tokens, with community quest details to follow. The launch announcement explicitly excluded U.S. persons and people acting on their behalf.

Those were the terms and plans described in 2023. Current reward availability, claim instructions, eligibility rules, and any later changes are not established by the announcement. The airdrop should not be treated as an active offer based on that historical post alone.

- Launching one or more Chainlets.
- Running a game tournament or an NFT drop.
- Publishing a demo with launch documentation or submitting gameplay video.
- Completing technical proof-of-concept challenges, such as bridging assets between ecosystems, making a game available to a guild, keeping transactions free with a dapp-specific recycled gas token, or splitting a game across realms.
Saga said these activities could be completed after Pegasus opened at the end of October 2023. The task list records historical criteria; it does not show that the quests remain available or that completing them now would earn a reward.
What did Saga report about its ecosystem?
At launch, Saga reported 282 Innovator projects. It also forecast that the number would exceed 300 by the planned 2024 mainnet launch. The first figure is a company-reported count from 2023; the second was a forecast, not a verified later total.

Saga co-founder and CEO Rebecca Liao said, “Saga has the best community any protocol could ask for.” That is promotional language from the launch announcement, rather than an independent assessment.
Can you still join Pegasus or claim rewards?
The available launch and Innovator materials do not establish whether Pegasus participation, quests, or airdrop claims are still active. They also do not establish current eligibility or claim procedures. Do not rely on the old quest list as a current invitation or on the 2023 airdrop description as proof that tokens can still be claimed.

What was the planned route to mainnet?
The launch post outlined a six-part path toward Saga Protocol V1 mainnet, which it planned for early 2024. That timetable was a contemporaneous plan, not evidence of when mainnet ultimately launched or of Saga’s current network status. The Pegasus announcement is best read as a record of the testnet and incentive campaign as Saga presented them in October 2023.
