Portrait of God is moving from short film to feature, with Lionsgate acquiring the project from Universal. Chase Infiniti is attached to star, short-film creator Dylan Clark will direct, and Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele are among the producers. Despite the original headline’s shorthand, Raimi and Peele are not reported to be directing the film.
What is the Portrait of God movie?
The feature adapts Dylan Clark’s horror short Portrait of God. Its reported premise follows a religious girl preparing a presentation about a painting titled “Portrait of God.” What she sees challenges her beliefs. The feature’s story beyond that short-film setup has not been reported.

- Director: Dylan Clark, who created the original short.
- Star: Chase Infiniti is attached to star.
- Screenplay: Clark co-wrote it with Joe Russo.
- Producers: Joe Russo, Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele are among the producers. Raimi is associated with Ghost House, and Peele with Monkeypaw Productions. TheWrap also identifies Rob Tapert, Win Rosenfeld and other production personnel.
Raimi is known for Evil Dead, while Peele directed Get Out; those credits explain the names invoked in the announcement, but neither filmmaker is identified as Portrait of God’s director.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson praised the team in a studio statement, calling the film’s potential “haunting, thought-provoking, and scary as hell.” That is Lionsgate’s promotional description, not a critical assessment of a finished film.
Clark said he was pleased that the project had found a home at Lionsgate and welcomed Infiniti to the team. He also praised her work in One Battle After Another.
