Yes. In September 2025, Sam’s Club stores were reported to be selling LEGO Game Boy set 72046 before its scheduled October 1 release—and at roughly $10 below LEGO’s listed price. That was a historical deal, not a verified current offer: present-day Sam’s Club pricing and stock have not been established.
What happened with the LEGO Game Boy set?
PC Guide reported on September 9, 2025, that some Sam’s Club stores in the United States had begun selling the 421-piece LEGO Game Boy display set, model 72046, ahead of its planned October 1, 2025 release. The report described the sale as nearly three weeks early. PC Guide’s September 9 report
The set is a physical display build, not a playable Game Boy. PC Guide describes lenticular screen options and brick-built game cartridges. The reason for the early sale was not known when the report was published; there is no basis here to attribute it to a retailer strategy or an official change to the release date. PC Guide
Was it really about $10 cheaper?
PC Guide reported a Sam’s Club price of $49.99, compared with LEGO’s listed $59.99 price at the time. Sam’s Club’s official November 2025 Instant Savings Book later listed the set for $49.98 and described “Authentic details with Game Pak slot and lenticular screens.” Those are separate records from different dates, so the reported $49.99 and the book’s $49.98 should not be treated as one exact transaction price.
