Samsung Game Booster+ is best understood as an optional gaming add-on, not a magic performance upgrade. On supported Galaxy phones, it can provide more granular per-game controls, performance statistics and, on newer or limited-rollout builds, features such as gamepad-to-touch mapping. It can help you choose between smoother gameplay, lower power use and better temperatures—but it cannot add GPU power, remove a game’s FPS cap or prevent thermal throttling.
The exact features depend on your Galaxy model, One UI version, region, carrier software, Game Booster version and the game itself. Samsung says Game Booster is not available for every game, and its menus can vary substantially between devices. Check Samsung’s official Game Booster documentation and the Galaxy Store listing for current availability.

What is Samsung Game Booster+?
Samsung’s gaming software is split across several related components:
- Gaming Hub is the game library and discovery area.
- Game Booster is the built-in in-game panel and performance-management layer.
- Game Booster+ is an optional plug-in or add-on distributed through Samsung’s Galaxy Store and associated with the Game Plugins and Good Lock ecosystem on some releases.
- Good Lock is Samsung’s customization platform, which can surface or support additional modules on compatible devices.
That naming matters. Game Booster+ is not a universal replacement for Game Booster, and the presence of the standard Game Booster does not guarantee that every Game Booster+ feature is available. Samsung’s older documentation describes Game Booster Plus as a plug-in for customizing performance according to battery level and viewing statistics, while Samsung’s more recent support pages document per-game performance controls inside Game Booster.

In practical terms, Game Booster+ gives supported Galaxy owners more control over how individual games use the phone. It is most useful to enthusiasts who want different profiles for competitive games, demanding 3D titles and long battery-saving sessions.
What Game Booster+ can control
Per-game performance profiles
Depending on the device and software build, Samsung offers profiles such as Performance, Standard or Balanced, and Battery saver. These settings influence the compromise between responsiveness, heat and endurance.
- Performance: prioritizes responsiveness and potentially higher sustained frame rates, at the cost of more heat and battery drain.
- Balanced or Standard: aims for a compromise suitable for most games.
- Battery saver: reduces power demand, which can lower frame rate, resolution or responsiveness.
A Performance setting does not force the phone to run at maximum clock speeds indefinitely. Thermal protection can still reduce CPU and GPU behavior during a long session.

FPS and resolution controls
On supported One UI 7 devices, Samsung documents per-game controls for optimization level, FPS, screen resolution and Frame Booster. Lowering resolution can free rendering capacity for a demanding game, but it also makes text, textures and distant objects look softer.
Likewise, selecting a higher FPS target does not guarantee that the game will render at that rate. The game may impose its own cap, the display may have a lower refresh rate, or the phone may become thermally constrained.
Frame Booster
Frame Booster may make motion appear smoother by generating or inserting intermediate frames where supported. That is not necessarily the same as the game rendering more native frames. Depending on the game and device, frame processing can introduce visual artifacts, extra power use or additional latency.
Use it selectively. For a cinematic single-player game, perceived smoothness may be more important than absolute input latency. For a competitive game, stable native frames and predictable response are usually preferable to an aggressive smoothing mode.

Gaming tools beyond performance
Game Booster can also provide touch protection, touch sensitivity controls, notification and navigation-button blocking, screenshots, screen recording, system monitoring, game sound controls and pop-up access to other apps. Selected Galaxy devices also offer Pause USB PD charging, which routes power to the phone while gaming instead of continuing to charge the battery in the usual way.
Samsung lists support for Pause USB PD on selected models, including certain Galaxy S22, S23 and S24 phones, Tab S8 devices, Galaxy Z Fold4, Z Flip4, A53 and A23 models. The list is software-dependent and should not be treated as proof that the feature exists on every later model or regional build.
What is genuinely new in the latest Game Booster+ reports?
Recent reporting about Game Booster+ version 2.0.00.23, published on March 31, 2026, described three features as Galaxy S26 pilot functions:
- Gamepad Touch Mapping: maps physical controller buttons and sticks to locations on the touchscreen for games without native controller support.
- AP clock limitation: a control intended to limit application-processor clock behavior, potentially trading peak performance for lower power use or heat.
- Game Intro Fast-Forward: skips or accelerates repetitive introductory sequences in supported games.
These additions should not be presented as universal Galaxy features. SamMobile reported them as S26 pilot features; wider availability depends on Samsung’s rollout, the Galaxy Store listing and the software installed on the individual phone. Additional reporting has connected Game Booster+ features with One UI 8.5, but Samsung’s support material does not establish one identical feature set for every Galaxy model.

It can help you prioritize performance, but there is no universal or independently verified FPS increase.
Game Booster+ cannot create additional GPU capacity. It may help when the default profile is conservative, when reducing resolution removes a rendering bottleneck, or when a supported game responds to Samsung’s FPS and optimization controls. Frame Booster may improve perceived smoothness, but generated frames are not the same as higher native game-rendered FPS.
Actual results depend on:
- the phone’s chipset, cooling system and available memory;
- the game’s engine, graphics settings and internal FPS cap;
- the display’s refresh rate;
- the selected resolution and Frame Booster behavior;
- the phone’s temperature and battery level;
- regional firmware, carrier software and game compatibility.
For that reason, claims that Game Booster+ automatically makes every game faster—or delivers a fixed percentage improvement—are not supported by Samsung’s documentation.

Can it reduce heat or improve battery life?
It can help you choose a lower-power configuration, but better endurance and lower temperatures require a performance compromise. Balanced or Battery saver modes may reduce sustained heat and drain, while AP clock limitation may offer a similar trade-off where that feature is available.

For long sessions, start with Balanced, monitor the phone and lower resolution or FPS if temperatures climb. Removing a heat-trapping case, avoiding direct sunlight and using a compatible external cooler can help, although Game Booster itself is not a cooling system.
Pause USB PD changes how charging power is managed during play; it should not be described as a guarantee of improved battery health or zero heat.
How to install or update Game Booster+
Use Samsung’s official distribution channels rather than an unofficial APK:
- Open Galaxy Store.
- Tap Menu, then Updates.
- Install available updates for Game Booster, Gaming Hub, Good Lock or Game Plugins.
- If Game Booster+ is listed separately in your region, install it from the official Galaxy Store page.
- Restart the phone if the plug-in does not appear immediately.
The listing and module names may differ by country. Samsung specifically recommends checking Galaxy Store updates after One UI 8.5 because an outdated Game Booster component can prevent settings from opening.

On many current Galaxy devices, the general path is:
- Open Gaming Hub.
- Tap More options, shown as the three-dot menu.
- Tap Game Booster.
- Open Game optimization or Customizations for individual games.
- Select the game.
- Choose the available performance, FPS, resolution or Frame Booster settings.
- Tap Save.
Samsung’s One UI 7 instructions specifically use Gaming Hub → More options → Game Booster → Customizations for individual games. On other releases, you may also find controls under Settings → Advanced features → Game Booster settings.

To use the in-game panel, launch a supported game and open the Game Booster icon from the navigation or notification area. The panel can expose shortcuts for blocking alerts, recording the screen, monitoring performance and opening supported plug-ins.
When Gamepad Touch Mapping is useful
Touch Mapping is potentially the most practical newer feature for controller users. It can make a physical gamepad usable in a touch-first game, cloud-gaming session or other title that lacks native controller support.
It remains a compatibility workaround, not a replacement for native support. Fixed screen coordinates can behave poorly when a game’s HUD changes, menus require gestures, aiming uses multi-touch or the display layout changes. Native controller support generally provides better analog handling, menus and game-specific button behavior.
Check the rules of competitive online games before using mapped input. A game may restrict external controllers, overlays or unusual input methods even when Android technically allows them.

Competitive games
- Prioritize stable native FPS and low latency.
- Use notification blocking and touch protection.
- Avoid Frame Booster if it adds latency or visible artifacts.
- Use native controller support where available.
Long travel sessions
- Start with Balanced or Battery saver.
- Lower resolution or FPS before allowing the phone to become uncomfortably hot.
- Use Pause USB PD if your model supports it and you are gaming while connected to power.
Demanding single-player games
- Try Performance mode first.
- Monitor sustained performance rather than the first few minutes.
- Reduce resolution if the game is GPU-limited.
- Test Frame Booster separately instead of assuming it improves responsiveness.
Controller users
- Prefer a game with native controller support.
- Use Touch Mapping as a fallback for compatible games.
- Check controller fit, USB-C clearance and phone-case compatibility.
Which Galaxy phones support Game Booster+?
There is no reliable universal model list. Support depends on the Galaxy model and chipset, Android and One UI version, Game Booster and Game Plugins versions, region, carrier firmware, Good Lock availability and game compatibility.
The reported S26 pilot features should be kept separate from broader Game Booster support. A Galaxy phone can have the standard Game Booster while lacking Game Booster+, a particular plug-in or an individual experimental feature. A game appearing in Gaming Hub also does not guarantee that every Game Booster control will work with it.
Troubleshooting
Game Booster+ is missing
Update Gaming Hub, Game Booster, Good Lock and Game Plugins through Galaxy Store, then restart the phone. Check Samsung’s official listing in your country. The feature may not have rolled out to your model or region, or it may be surfaced through Game Plugins or Good Lock rather than under the exact name “Game Booster+.” Avoid treating unofficial APK downloads as the normal fix; they can create security, region and version-compatibility problems.

The game does not appear
Samsung says Game Booster may not work with every game. Add or launch the game through Gaming Hub where possible, and launch it once before checking the per-game list. Sideloaded apps, streaming apps, emulators and other nonstandard packages may not be recognized as games.
Game Booster settings will not open after One UI 8.5
Samsung’s documented recovery is:
- Open Settings → Apps.
- Enable Show system apps.
- Open Game Booster.
- Tap Storage, then Clear data.
- Open Galaxy Store and update Game Booster.
- Reopen Game Booster through Settings, Gaming Hub or the in-game panel.

A performance mode changes nothing
The game may have an internal FPS cap, the display may be limiting visible frames, the chipset may already be thermally constrained, or the selected profile may be changing power behavior without changing the game’s graphics engine. Test one change at a time and compare sustained gameplay rather than a brief menu scene.

Game Booster can block many alerts, but Samsung says some notifications, including alarms and certain app notifications, cannot be blocked. Details are available in Samsung’s notification troubleshooting guidance.
Is Game Booster+ worth using?
Game Booster+ is worth trying if you play demanding games, want separate profiles, care about heat and battery trade-offs, use a high-refresh-rate Galaxy display, need performance statistics or own a controller for a touch-first game.
It matters less if you play lightweight games that already run smoothly, use an entry-level phone whose chipset is the bottleneck or expect a dramatic performance increase from a software plug-in. It is also not, by itself, a strong reason to upgrade from a recent Galaxy phone. A newer flagship can provide more hardware headroom, but Game Booster+ cannot substitute for a faster chipset, better cooling or a game optimized for the device.
The bottom line: Game Booster+ elevates Galaxy gaming mainly through customization and convenience. It can help you select a better compromise between frame rate, image quality, temperature and battery life, and its reported controller-mapping tools may broaden compatibility. But the results remain device- and game-dependent, and no setting can overcome hardware limits or thermal throttling.
