Samsung’s 2025 monitor lineup was not one single upgrade path. It targeted five distinct audiences: early adopters interested in glasses-free 3D, premium gamers wanting 4K OLED at 240Hz, esports players chasing 500Hz, users who prefer a 49-inch 32:9 display, and productivity buyers seeking a large 16:9 4K screen.
Samsung unveiled the range at CES on January 2, 2025, then announced retail availability for several models on March 24. As of August 2026, these are older-generation products, with Samsung’s U.S. Odyssey page promoting newer 2026 models. Their value now depends heavily on discounts, stock and whether a model’s specialist feature matches your workload.

What Samsung announced—and when
The first announcement, published on January 2, 2025, introduced the 2025 Odyssey OLED G8, Odyssey OLED G6, Odyssey 3D and 37-inch ViewFinity S8 at CES. Samsung also discussed other products, including the Smart Monitor M9, but the displays below are the main gaming and productivity models.
On March 24, Samsung published a separate availability announcement covering the Odyssey 3D, OLED G8, Odyssey G9 and ViewFinity S8. The two dates matter: the CES event was a product unveiling, while the March announcement concerned retail availability. They were not one simultaneous launch of every 2025 Odyssey model.

Odyssey 3D G90XF: glasses-free 3D at 4K and 165Hz
The Odyssey 3D G90XF is a 27-inch 4K monitor with a 3,840 × 2,160 resolution, 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms GtG response time. It supports AMD FreeSync and is G-Sync Compatible.
Its defining feature is glasses-free 3D. Samsung combines built-in eye tracking with a lenticular lens layer to direct different images toward the viewer’s eyes. The monitor also includes an Odyssey 3D Hub, Edge Lighting and, according to Samsung’s U.S. product page, spatial-audio features.
Samsung worked with Nexon on The First Berserker: Khazan and with Neowiz on Lies of P content. Compatible games and specially prepared content should provide the most convincing results. The monitor can also use AI-assisted conversion to turn 2D video into a 3D-like presentation, but converted content should not be treated as equivalent to native 3D.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchThere are practical limitations. The effect depends on eye tracking, viewing position, lighting, reflections and the supported content. Samsung also notes that the 3D Hub is unavailable when HDR mode is enabled. For converted video, Samsung recommends a powerful system, including a modern Core i7- or Ryzen 7-class processor, DDR5-5600 memory and PCIe 5.0 support for optimal performance.
The G90XF is aimed at early adopters and players who specifically want to experiment with glasses-free 3D. It is a poor choice if your priority is the highest competitive refresh rate, universal content support or the best price-to-performance ratio.
Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF: 4K OLED at 240Hz
The 2025 Odyssey OLED G8 was available in 27-inch and 32-inch versions. Both use 4K OLED panels at 240Hz; the 27-inch version has approximately 166 pixels per inch, giving it unusually high pixel density for a gaming monitor.
Samsung lists QD-OLED technology, a 0.03ms GtG response time, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync Compatibility. The monitor also includes a Glare Free treatment, OLED Safeguard+, Core Lighting+ and an ergonomic stand. Samsung describes the cooling system as using a pulsating heat pipe to manage panel temperatures.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The G8 is the most balanced gaming option in the group. It combines sharp 4K detail, OLED contrast and a refresh rate that suits both demanding single-player games and competitive titles. However, 4K at 240Hz is a panel capability, not a promise that every game will reach 240 frames per second. A powerful graphics card is required, and demanding games may rely on upscaling or frame generation.
VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 should also not be confused with the high peak brightness of a strong mini-LED display. OLED delivers excellent blacks and contrast, but buyers seeking spectacular bright HDR highlights should compare brightness performance rather than relying on the HDR label alone.
OLED introduces a further qualification. Static elements such as taskbars, scoreboards and minimaps can contribute to uneven pixel wear. Samsung’s OLED Safeguard features are intended to reduce risk, not eliminate it. Use screen-saving features, vary the content displayed and check the exact model’s current warranty terms, including whether burn-in is covered.
Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF: a specialized 500Hz esports monitor
The 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF uses a 2,560 × 1,440 QHD OLED panel with a 500Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GtG response time. It also supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, G-Sync Compatible operation, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and a Glare Free screen.

The lower QHD resolution makes the display easier to drive at very high frame rates than a 4K 240Hz monitor. That is the point: the G6 is designed for competitive players who prioritize motion clarity and latency over maximum resolution, desktop space or cinematic HDR.
But 500Hz is not automatically better for every player. The benefit depends on the game, CPU, GPU, connection and the frame rate the system can actually sustain. If a computer normally produces 120 or 200 frames per second, much of the G6’s headline capability goes unused. Console players and people focused on single-player games are generally better served by a sharper or more versatile display.
Choose the G6 over the G8 when competitive shooters are your main use and your system can maintain very high frame rates. Choose the G8 when you want one monitor for a wider variety of games and value 4K detail.

Odyssey G9 G91F: 49 inches of 32:9 gaming
The Odyssey G9 G91F is a 49-inch curved monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio, Dual QHD resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and VESA DisplayHDR 600.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Its continuous ultrawide canvas can replace a two-monitor setup for many users. It is particularly attractive for racing and simulation games, strategy titles, multitasking and any workflow that benefits from a very wide horizontal timeline or window layout. A 144Hz refresh rate remains fast enough for most gaming.
The main risk is compatibility. Not every game supports 32:9 correctly. Menus or cutscenes may use different aspect ratios, while unsupported games can stretch the image, add pillarboxing or provide a narrower effective view. Competitive games may also restrict ultrawide field-of-view advantages. Check support for your most-played titles before buying.
The G9 also demands a large desk and a capable GPU to render Dual QHD at high refresh rates. It is less flexible than two separate physical displays when you need independent devices, and it can require additional software or hardware for that kind of setup.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.ViewFinity S8 S80UD: a large 16:9 productivity display
The ViewFinity S8 S80UD is a 37-inch 4K monitor with a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. It uses a VA panel, runs at 60Hz, lists a 5ms response time and 280 cd/m² brightness, and has a typical 3,000:1 contrast ratio. Samsung lists HDR10, approximately 1 billion colors, HDMI and DisplayPort inputs, plus a USB-C hub.
Samsung called it the largest 16:9 4K monitor in its lineup at the time of announcement and said it was approximately 34% larger than the preceding model. Its purpose is workspace rather than speed: spreadsheets, documents, editing timelines, multitasking and laptop connectivity.
The 16:9 format preserves broad compatibility with applications and video. It can be preferable to an ultrawide for users who do not want unusual aspect-ratio behavior. However, a 37-inch screen needs a suitably deep desk and may require careful operating-system scaling and viewing distance. Productivity buyers should evaluate text clarity, brightness and uniformity, not resolution alone.
The S80UD is not a direct Odyssey alternative. Its 60Hz refresh rate and productivity-focused feature set make it a poor fit for competitive gaming or buyers seeking strong HDR brightness. It may suit creators who need workspace, but color-critical users should independently confirm gamut, calibration and uniformity before relying on it professionally.
Prices and availability
Pricing varies by country and changes with stock, so launch MSRP and observed retail prices should be treated separately.
- ViewFinity S8 S80UD: Samsung’s March 2025 U.S. business price sheet listed a $1,159.99 MSRP. That is a dated manufacturer figure, not a guaranteed current street price.
- Odyssey G9 G91F: Samsung’s U.S. page showed $999.99 when accessed on August 18, 2026, but delivery and pickup were unavailable.
- Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF: Samsung’s U.S. page showed $1,299.99 on August 18, 2026, with delivery and pickup unavailable when accessed.
- Odyssey 3D G90XF: Samsung’s U.S. page showed $1,399.99 on August 18, 2026, with delivery and pickup unavailable when accessed.
Samsung’s U.S. launch promotion offered up to a $300 Samsung credit from April 8 through April 27, 2025. That promotion has expired and should not be treated as a current deal. Availability and pricing outside the United States may differ substantially.
Are Samsung’s 2025 monitors still worth buying in 2026?
Samsung’s U.S. Odyssey category now promotes newer 2026 models, so the 2025 products should be considered older-generation hardware. They can still make sense when discounted or when their distinctive feature is exactly what you want.
- G90XF: Buy only at a meaningful discount and only if glasses-free 3D is a priority. It is difficult to justify at a premium price for ordinary 2D gaming.
- G81SF: Still compelling as a 4K 240Hz OLED if the price is competitive and your PC can drive it. Compare it with Samsung’s newer G8 models and current competing 4K OLED displays.
- G60SF: Buy for a specific esports use case, not simply because 500Hz sounds faster. Confirm that your system and games can exploit it.
- G91F: Worth considering if a 49-inch 32:9 workspace fits your desk and your main games support ultrawide output. Check newer models and competing ultrawides before paying close to launch pricing.
- S80UD: A sensible choice when a large 16:9 productivity workspace and USB-C connectivity matter more than refresh rate. It is not a gaming monitor in the same sense as the Odyssey models.
Before buying any older OLED model, check current stock, return terms and the exact burn-in warranty. Do not assume that Samsung’s protection features constitute a guarantee against permanent image retention.
Which 2025 Samsung monitor fits you?
- Premium all-round gaming: Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF.
- Competitive shooters: Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF, provided your system sustains very high frame rates.
- Glasses-free 3D: Odyssey 3D G90XF, with compatible-content and HDR limitations understood.
- Ultrawide gaming and multitasking: Odyssey G9 G91F.
- Large-format productivity: ViewFinity S8 S80UD.
There is no universal winner in this lineup. Samsung’s 2025 announcement was notable because it spread its most ambitious features across very different products: 3D immersion, OLED image quality, extreme refresh rate, 32:9 gaming and large-format office work. In 2026, the right purchase is the model whose specialized advantage you will actually use—and whose price reflects that it is no longer Samsung’s newest generation.
