Samsung’s 6K Odyssey 3D Monitor Is Real—but It Isn’t the 6K G8 You Can Buy Now

Samsung’s 6K Odyssey 3D G90XH is real, but its US price and retail availability were still unconfirmed by August 16, 2026. The conventional 6K G80HS is the model buyers can clearly order.

Samsung has announced a 2026 Odyssey lineup led by the 32-inch Odyssey 3D G90XH, which it describes as the world’s first 6K glasses-free 3D gaming monitor. But there is an important availability distinction: Samsung unveiled the G90XH in December 2025, while its May 2026 US retail announcement covered the conventional 6K Odyssey G8 G80HS and other models—not the 6K 3D monitor.

As of August 16, 2026, the G90XH’s US price and broad retail availability remain unconfirmed by the surfaced official pages. The G80HS is the 6K Odyssey model Samsung has clearly announced as orderable, at a listed US launch price of $1,599.99.

What Samsung actually announced

Samsung’s December 23, 2025 announcement introduced five Odyssey monitors for 2026. The lineup includes two different 6K products: the glasses-free 3D Odyssey 3D G90XH and the conventional 2D Odyssey G8 G80HS.

Model Size and resolution Panel Refresh modes Key feature
Odyssey 3D G90XH 32-inch, 6,144 × 3,456 IPS 165Hz; 330Hz at 3K Glasses-free 3D
Odyssey G8 G80HS 32-inch, 6,144 × 3,456 IPS 165Hz; 330Hz at 3K Conventional 6K gaming
Odyssey G8 G80HF 27-inch, 5,120 × 2,880 IPS 180Hz; 360Hz at QHD 5K high-density gaming
Odyssey G6 G60H 27-inch, 2,560 × 1,440 IPS 600Hz; 1,040Hz at HD Competitive gaming
Odyssey OLED G8 G80SH 32-inch, 3,840 × 2,160 QD-OLED 240Hz OLED contrast and HDR

Samsung presented the lineup at CES 2026 in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9. On May 19, it announced US ordering for the G80HS, G80HF and OLED models. That retail announcement did not provide a G90XH price or a general US release date.

How the G90XH’s glasses-free 3D works

The G90XH is not simply a normal 6K monitor with a software 3D switch. Samsung says it combines real-time eye tracking with a lenticular display structure that sends different views to the viewer’s eyes. The monitor can adjust depth and perspective as the viewer moves, creating viewpoint-dependent stereoscopic depth without requiring 3D glasses.

That does not mean a holographic object will float freely in the room. The effect is produced on the display and is intended for a viewer positioned in front of it. Seating position, eye tracking and the available viewing zone are therefore central to the experience.

Samsung also advertises 2D-to-3D conversion and says supported games can receive optimized 3D effects developed with game studios. Those are two different scenarios. A game with an optimized profile may receive more deliberately tuned depth effects, while generic conversion is expected to be more dependent on the source image and software processing.

Samsung has not provided, in the cited announcement, a complete game list, a frame-rate table or a detailed compatibility matrix. It is therefore too early to promise that every PC game will produce equally convincing 3D, or that every combination of HDR, VRR, anti-cheat software and mods will work identically in 3D mode.

G90XH versus G80HS: the crucial difference

Both monitors are 32-inch IPS displays with 6,144 × 3,456 resolution, a listed 165Hz native refresh rate, DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1. Their purposes are different:

  • G90XH: the experimental 6K model, with eye-tracked glasses-free 3D and 2D-to-3D conversion.
  • G80HS: the conventional 6K model, with a dual mode that switches to 3K resolution at up to 330Hz.

The G80HS is the model Samsung later put forward for US retail, with a listed launch price of $1,599.99. The G90XH’s US price was not stated in the official sources covered here.

Do not confuse the G90XH with the existing 27-inch Odyssey 3D G90XF. The G90XF is a 4K glasses-free 3D monitor listed on Samsung’s US site; it is not the announced 32-inch 6K G90XH.

What 6K at 165Hz means in practice

Samsung’s 6K resolution is 6,144 × 3,456 pixels. That provides substantially more desktop detail and workspace than 4K, but it also requires the PC to render many more pixels. A monitor accepting a 6K/165Hz signal does not mean a particular graphics card will run modern games at that combination of resolution, settings and frame rate.

The G80HS and G90XH’s advertised 330Hz mode is a compromise: it operates at 3K, not at the full 6K pixel count. Similarly, the G60H’s headline 1,040Hz figure applies to an HD mode; its native QHD mode is listed at up to 600Hz.

Samsung 27" Odyssey G5 (G51F) Series QHD (1440P) Gaming Monitor
  • QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
  • HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
  • The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
  • AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
  • Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort

Samsung lists DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 for the 6K models. Buyers will still need a compatible system, suitable cables and a graphics card capable of supplying the required bandwidth. Exact cable, DSC, operating-system and GPU requirements should be checked against the final monitor manual and Samsung support documentation.

For cinematic single-player games, native 6K may be the more attractive target if the PC can drive it. For esports, the lower-resolution high-refresh mode may make more sense. Samsung’s listed 1ms gray-to-gray response time for the 6K models is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement of latency or motion clarity.

Odyssey G8 G80HF: 5K for less

The 27-inch G80HF uses a 5,120 × 2,880 IPS panel at up to 180Hz, or QHD at up to 360Hz in its dual mode. Samsung announced a US launch price of $949.99. It is the more affordable high-density alternative to the G80HS and may also be easier for a gaming PC to drive, but it has a smaller screen and lower maximum resolution.

Odyssey G6 G60H: built for competitive play

The 27-inch G60H targets players who prioritize refresh rate over pixel density. It supports QHD at up to 600Hz and HD at up to 1,040Hz. That makes it relevant to competitive players—not to buyers seeking a high-resolution creator or desktop monitor.

Odyssey OLED G8 G80SH: fewer pixels, stronger contrast

The OLED G8 uses a 4K QD-OLED panel at 240Hz. Samsung listed US launch prices of $1,099.99 for the 27-inch version and $1,299.99 for the 32-inch version. Samsung also cites a 0.03ms stated response time and DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.

This comparison matters because more resolution and better image quality are not identical goals. The G80HS offers more pixels and workspace, while the OLED G80SH can offer deeper blacks and stronger perceived contrast. At launch pricing, the 32-inch OLED model was listed $300 below the 32-inch 6K G80HS, although current checkout prices and promotions can change.

Availability and pricing timeline

  1. December 23, 2025: Samsung unveiled the 2026 Odyssey lineup ahead of CES.
  2. January 6–9, 2026: Samsung said the lineup would be showcased at CES 2026.
  3. May 19, 2026: Samsung announced US ordering for selected new monitors, including the G80HS and G80HF.
  4. August 16, 2026 cutoff: Samsung US pages clearly showed the conventional G80HS and G80HF. The surfaced 3D product page was for the earlier 4K G90XF, not the announced 6K G90XH.

Samsung also advertised promotions including up to $499 in rewards on selected 2026 monitors and a separate 10% offer page. These were conditional, time-limited promotions rather than permanent price cuts. Check the terms at checkout.

Which monitor makes sense?

  • Choose the G90XH only if glasses-free stereoscopic gaming is the feature you specifically want and you are comfortable waiting for confirmed pricing, availability and broader software details.
  • Choose the G80HS for a buyable conventional 6K gaming monitor, unusually dense desktop space and the option to switch to 3K/330Hz. It is expensive and demanding to drive, and it does not provide OLED-level blacks.
  • Choose the G80HF if you want high pixel density at a lower listed launch price and can accept a smaller 27-inch 5K screen.
  • Choose the G80SH OLED if contrast, HDR presentation and cinematic image quality matter more than having 6K resolution.
  • Choose the G60H if competitive gaming and very high refresh rates matter more than resolution.

Samsung’s official US product page for the conventional 6K model is the Odyssey G8 G80HS. For comparison, the surfaced Odyssey 3D G90XF page concerns the older 4K 3D model, not the G90XH.
