The 27-inch Odyssey 3D G90XF combines a 4K, 165Hz IPS display with an eye-tracking camera, view-mapping software, and a lenticular lens layer. It can create a stereoscopic 3D image without a headset or 3D glasses, but the experience is not universal: supported games, Windows software, a suitable PC, and a carefully controlled viewing position all matter.
In the US, Samsung lists the G90XF under model LS27FG900XNXZA. Its listed price is $1,399.99, although a $1,299.99 promotional price was shown on Samsung’s product page at one point. Prices, promotions, and stock can change.

What the Odyssey 3D G90XF actually is
The G90XF is a conventional desktop monitor first and an autostereoscopic 3D display second. It is a flat 27-inch IPS panel with a 3,840 × 2,160 resolution, a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz, and a 1ms GTG response time. It does not surround you like virtual reality, and it does not project a hologram into the room.
Instead, the monitor sends different image information toward your left and right eyes. Your brain combines those views into a perception of depth. Samsung’s system uses three components:
#1 Best Overall
- GAME IN A WHOLE NEW DIMENSION: Break down the barriers between imagination and reality with the industry’s best 3D picture quality.¹ Immerse yourself in a diverse array of 3D gaming experiences across genres with stunning 3D effects on a 4K screen.
- UNLOCK NEW DIMENSIONS OF YOUR FAVORITE CONTENT WITH AI: Transform your favorite videos into 3D.² AI analyzes and converts videos to add depth to the objects, giving you a new way to enjoy content you love.
- DIVE SMOOTHLY INTO 3D WORLDS: Jump into your 3D world effortlessly with Odyssey 3D Hub - your gateway to the best 3D video and gaming experience.³ Register to access supported games, and adjust settings to get the most out of your favorite content.
- ENRICH YOUR SOUND EXPERIENCE: Built-in dual speakers provide directional sound that enhances the audio of 3D videos, bringing games straight out of the screen into your world.
- LIGHT UP THE WORLD BEYOND THE SCREEN: Expand your game maps with Edge Lighting. The LEDs around the bottom of the monitor detect and match colors of your screen to bring the visual experience closer to reality.
- Eye tracking: A front-facing camera detects where you are sitting and tracks your eyes.
- View mapping: Software adjusts the image for your viewing position.
- Lenticular optics: A lens layer directs the appropriate image toward each eye, eliminating the need for dedicated glasses.
That means “glasses-free” does not mean “position-free.” The effect is designed mainly for one person seated in front of the display. Someone viewing from the side—or several people looking at once—should not expect the same stable 3D image.
Samsung explains the underlying system in its Odyssey 3D technology overview.
Key specifications
| Feature | Odyssey 3D G90XF |
|---|---|
| Screen | 27-inch flat IPS |
| Resolution | 3,840 × 2,160 (4K) |
| Refresh rate | Up to 165Hz |
| Response time | 1ms GTG |
| Brightness | 350 cd/m2 typical; 280 cd/m2 minimum listed |
| Contrast | 1,000:1 static |
| HDR | HDR10 and HDR10+ Gaming |
| Adaptive sync | AMD FreeSync Premium |
| Audio | Built-in 5W × 2 stereo speakers |
| Connections | HDMI and DisplayPort |
These specifications make it a capable 2D gaming monitor, but they are not automatically class-leading at this price. Its IPS panel and 1,000:1 static contrast ratio cannot deliver the black levels of an OLED display, while 350 nits of typical brightness is more modest than the strongest HDR-focused monitors.

Will every PC game work in 3D?
No. The G90XF is not a button that turns every PC game into convincing 3D. Samsung’s companion Odyssey 3D Hub manages the 3D experience and provides information about compatible titles. The supported library is software-dependent and can change, so check Samsung’s current Hub and game-list downloads rather than relying on a fixed game count.
There are several different levels of compatibility:

- Optimized or officially profiled games: These are the safest candidates for the intended 3D experience.
- Software-converted content: Samsung’s tools may attempt to create depth from suitable material, but the result can vary significantly.
- Unsupported games: These may remain ordinary 2D titles or may not produce useful depth at all.
A game can technically launch while still delivering poor depth, visual artifacts, instability, or an uncomfortable image. Samsung itself says that 3D results vary with game content and PC capability. The Samsung product information describes the compatibility and Hub requirements.
What the Odyssey 3D Hub does
The Hub is effectively part of the monitor’s 3D feature set. Samsung presents it as the place to activate the experience, view compatible-game information, and use supported conversion functions. It can be downloaded from Samsung’s support resources or the Microsoft Store.
That creates an important trade-off: the G90XF is not a completely self-contained plug-and-play 3D solution. Some of its value depends on Windows software, profiles, and continued compatibility support. Anyone who dislikes proprietary utilities should treat that as a significant consideration.
Samsung’s support page provides Hub downloads and dated game-list files. Because those lists can change, check them before buying for the titles you actually play.
Can it convert ordinary 2D games or video?
Samsung promotes AI-assisted 3D video conversion and 2D-to-3D functionality, but this feature has major limitations. Samsung’s support information says that conversion:
- may not work with games;
- requires the video to play in full-screen mode;
- requires the Odyssey 3D Hub to remain active in the system tray;
- depends on whether the video player supports the feature;
- does not support DRM-protected content;
- can be disabled by HDR mode; and
- is supported only with NVIDIA graphics cards, according to Samsung’s documentation.
Those restrictions make conversion an experimental extra, not a guarantee that every game, streaming service, or video file will become 3D. Samsung’s support and product information should be checked for current requirements.

What PC hardware does it need?
Samsung’s public material emphasizes that results depend on the PC, but it does not establish one complete, definitive CPU and GPU minimum-specification table for every 3D mode. Do not treat the monitor’s 4K/165Hz specification as a promise that your computer can drive demanding games at 4K and high frame rates in stereoscopic 3D.
A PC that already struggles with ordinary 4K gaming will have less headroom for additional 3D rendering or conversion work. Before buying, check the latest Odyssey 3D Hub requirements and compare them with your graphics card, processor, display connection, and the specific games you intend to play.
Basic setup
- Connect the monitor to a Windows PC through HDMI or DisplayPort.
- Install the latest Odyssey 3D Hub from Samsung’s support page or the Microsoft Store.
- Place the monitor directly in front of you and keep the camera unobstructed.
- Open the Hub and check whether your game has a supported profile.
- Launch the title through the recommended Hub workflow or enable its applicable 3D mode.
- Adjust your seating position and tracking alignment if the image appears doubled, inverted, unstable, or flat.
For video conversion, keep the Hub running, use full-screen playback, and remember that HDR and DRM-protected content may prevent the feature from working.

Common problems and fixes
The image looks doubled or inverted
Sit centered in front of the monitor, check that the camera is clear, and restart or re-enable the 3D mode in the Hub. Confirm that the correct game profile is selected. Switching temporarily to 2D mode can help establish whether the problem is limited to the 3D pipeline.
The game is missing from the compatibility list
That usually means the title lacks a Samsung-supported profile, not that the monitor is defective. Update the Hub and its game list, then play the title in ordinary 2D mode if necessary. Unofficial mods or third-party conversion tools are not the same as Samsung-supported compatibility and can introduce bugs, artifacts, or anti-cheat concerns.
Video conversion will not activate
Check that the Hub is running, playback is full-screen, the player supports conversion, the content is not DRM-protected, HDR is disabled if necessary, and the system uses an NVIDIA graphics card as required by Samsung’s stated limitation.

- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
The effect breaks with multiple monitors
Samsung warns that 3D capability may be limited in multi-monitor environments containing more than one Odyssey 3D monitor. Treat multi-screen setups as a potential compatibility edge case rather than a guaranteed configuration.
The effect causes discomfort
Glasses-free does not mean fatigue-free. Stereoscopic 3D can still cause eye strain, headaches, or discomfort. Take breaks and return to 2D mode if the effect feels unpleasant.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does it work with PlayStation or Xbox?
The monitor can accept ordinary display inputs, but Samsung’s strongest documented 3D workflow is Windows- and PC-oriented. Do not assume that a PlayStation or Xbox game will receive the same 3D treatment as a supported PC title. Console compatibility should be confirmed for the specific setup rather than inferred from the presence of HDMI.
How it compares with the alternatives
Compared with a normal 4K gaming monitor
A conventional 4K 144–165Hz monitor is the more rational choice for most players. It should offer broader game compatibility without the Odyssey 3D Hub and usually costs less. The G90XF’s premium is primarily for glasses-free 3D, not simply for 4K resolution or a high refresh rate.
Compared with an OLED gaming monitor
OLED displays generally provide much deeper blacks and stronger contrast, along with fast perceived pixel response. They do not provide the G90XF’s glasses-free 3D system. The choice is therefore between superior conventional image quality and the Samsung’s specialized 3D capability.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCompared with VR
VR offers a more enveloping, head-tracked environment but requires a headset and can be isolating or uncomfortable. The Odyssey 3D is easier to use at a desk and remains a normal monitor, but its depth is confined to the screen and its intended viewing position.

Compared with glasses-based 3D
Glasses-based systems can support different viewing arrangements and display technologies, but they require extra hardware. Samsung’s advantage is convenience; its trade-offs are the narrower viewing zone, supported-content limits, and dependence on software.
Who should buy the Odyssey 3D G90XF?
Buy it if you specifically want to experiment with glasses-free 3D, play supported PC games, are comfortable installing and troubleshooting companion software, and also need a sharp 4K high-refresh monitor. The premium can make sense when the 3D experience is the main reason for buying.
Skip it if you expect every game to convert automatically, mainly play competitive shooters, need a display for several viewers, primarily use consoles or DRM-protected streaming video, want the best HDR and black levels for your money, or prefer a monitor with no proprietary software dependency.

Samsung’s Odyssey 3D G90XF is a credible glasses-free 3D monitor, not a concept product. Its eye tracking, view mapping, and lenticular display can create visible depth without glasses, while its 4K/165Hz panel keeps it useful as a conventional gaming monitor.
But it is best understood as an enthusiast display with a software-dependent, supported-title ecosystem—not as a universal 3D upgrade for every game. The single-viewer positioning, variable compatibility, video-conversion restrictions, PC requirements, and roughly $1,300–$1,400 US price make it a specialized purchase. If you want 3D and have compatible PC games, it is unusually compelling. If you simply want the best 4K gaming image for the money, a conventional IPS, Mini-LED, or OLED monitor is likely the safer choice.
