Epic Games Store’s August 2024 giveaway paired Death’s Gambit: Afterlife with the World of Warships — Albany Starter Pack. Gizchina described the bundle as worth about $50, but the offer has expired: the stated cutoff was August 22, 2024, at 15:00 UTC. The game and add-on are now listed at paid prices on Epic, so neither should be treated as currently free.
What the August 2024 Epic Games Store offer included
Gizchina’s August 16, 2024 article reported two items in the promotion: Death’s Gambit: Afterlife and the World of Warships — Albany Starter Pack. It put their combined value at about $50. That is an attributed approximation, not a verified breakdown of each item’s historical price or a current valuation. Gizchina’s report.

Death’s Gambit: Afterlife
Epic describes the game as a challenging 2D action platformer with RPG elements, including combat, exploration, bosses, crafting, character classes and alternate endings. Its Epic listing identifies Windows as the platform, White Rabbit as developer and Serenity Forge as publisher. The live listing is paid, and the August 2024 claim window has ended. World of Warships — Albany Starter Pack
The current Epic listing describes a pack containing a U.S. Tier II Premium cruiser Albany, a Commander with six skill points and a Port slot, 1,500,000 credits, an Epic patch, expendable economic bonuses and signals. It also includes a combat mission: after 15 battles, the player can choose one of four researchable Tier IV ships. Epic says the pack can be purchased once per account and its contents can be played only on World of Warships accounts created through Epic Games Store. These are details on the live listing; package contents and price may have changed since 2024. Epic Games Store Albany pack page.

When the giveaway ended
Gizchina gave August 22, 2024, at 15:00 UTC as the claim deadline for Death’s Gambit: Afterlife. That date is in the past, and Epic’s current product pages list both the game and Albany add-on at paid prices. An expired giveaway cannot be claimed by following its old announcement. What to know about Epic’s weekly free games now
For current promotions, use Epic’s official Free Games page. Epic Player Support says new weekly free games are available each Thursday at 8 AM PT and remain claimable for seven days. A successful claim adds the game to the account permanently, even if it is not downloaded during the offer window. An Epic account with two-factor authentication enabled is required to claim. These are Epic’s general weekly rules, not a way to reopen the 2024 offer. Epic Games Player Support: free games.

Check whether a listing is a temporary free-to-keep promotion or a free-to-play game. Epic’s Free Games page distinguishes weekly giveaways from games that are free-to-play; an always-free listing is not the same as a limited-time offer that becomes part of your library when claimed.
