To complete Secret of the Spring in Diablo 4, read the Discarded Note north of Kyovashad, travel to the marked spring, use the Wait emote beside it, then open the Buried Chest that appears. If Wait is missing from your emote wheel, add it through Customize first.
Where to find the Discarded Note
Travel north from Kyovashad in the Fractured Peaks, toward the Forsaken Quarry area. Find and interact with the Discarded Note to start the side quest; reading it adds a search area to your map.

What the riddle means
The note reads: “Beacon of warmth in winter’s embrace, patience rewarded by nature’s own grace.” The clue points to the Wait emote. Simply standing still by the spring does not complete the step; you need to activate the emote.
How to complete Secret of the Spring
- Follow the quest marker to the spring in the search area.
- Open the action or emote wheel and choose Customize.
- Find Wait among the unassigned emotes, place it in an available wheel slot, and save the wheel.
- Stand beside the spring and activate Wait.
- Open the Buried Chest that appears nearby to complete the quest.
What rewards does the quest give?
Rewards include gold and experience that scale with your character’s level, plus a small assortment of herbs. A fixed quantity or specific chest drop is not established, so the exact reward can vary.
