Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Seed of Power is a Relics of Rivellon side quest in Divinity: Original Sin 2. It begins at a wrecked ship near Fort Joy and continues through Reaper’s Coast and Arx as you track Daeyena, stolen spores, and the Contamination armor pieces. You do not have to kill Daeyena during the opening encounter to continue the quest, and the sources describe routes to the set after either outcome.
How to start Seed of Power near Fort Joy
Find the wrecked ship in a hidden alcove near Fort Joy. Daeyena is there with Magisters Krendt, Ellwin, and Swentin. The encounter leads to combat whether you initially try to avoid involvement or side with Daeyena; defeat the magisters to proceed. After the fight, Daeyena explains that she is searching for spores stolen from her. The ship’s stern contains a manifest and a spore container. The quest walkthrough describes this opening sequence, but does not specify a verified game build.
Does Daeyena have to die to get the full set?
No opening-act kill is required. Daeyena’s survival changes how some pieces are obtained and where you meet her again, but the walkthroughs describe progression in later acts whether she survives or dies. They do not provide a systematic, build-specific route matrix, so the exact path can depend on your current act, whether you learned Trigger Spores, and which pieces you already have.
| Daeyena’s status | What the sources describe |
|---|---|
| Dies during Act 1 | The walkthrough says the boots and greaves can be recovered. Later set pieces have other sources, including the Blackpits and later-act encounters. Divinity Wiki walkthrough |
| Survives the ship encounter | She can return in Act 2 near the Elven Encampment and appear again in Arx. Her later encounters affect the route to some pieces. Divinity Wiki walkthrough |
These are route descriptions, not a guarantee for every game build. A player discussion from October 2024 also says pieces other than the chest should be obtainable in the final act, but that is community advice rather than official documentation. Read the Steam discussion.

Where to find the Contamination Set pieces
Boots and greaves
If Daeyena dies in Act 1, the walkthrough says you can recover the boots and greaves. If she survives, the quest continues into Act 2, where her later encounters provide a different context for collecting set pieces. The source does not lay out a version-verified inventory checklist for every branch. Divinity Wiki walkthrough.
Gauntlets and Trigger Spores
In Reaper’s Coast, Daeyena’s encounter near the Elven Encampment is connected to the gauntlets and may involve a magister prisoner. The walkthrough describes learning the Trigger Spores ability from Daeyena’s remains or from research notes in the Blackpits. Under some circumstances, using the ability on a spore creates the gauntlets. A 2021 build guide also discusses the spore ability as part of the set route, but gives no independent confirmation of current build behavior. Divinity Wiki walkthrough · MGN build guide.

Chest piece in the Blackpits
The chest piece is carried by a magister in the exterior Blackpits area. The walkthrough describes persuasion or combat as possible ways to obtain it. Returning the piece to Daeyena is a choice, not a confirmed requirement for completing the set: a 2024 player discussion describes obtaining and keeping the chest independently. Divinity Wiki walkthrough · Steam player discussion.
Final-act piece in Arx
If Daeyena survives Act 2, the walkthrough places her in a magical research room in Reimond’s basement in Arx. In that route, it says you must kill her to obtain the remaining pieces. It also warns that the helmet is cursed and can cause permanent Madness, and describes a speech check as a way to avoid the effect. Treat the precise dialogue and mechanics as walkthrough-specific; they have not been independently verified here. Divinity Wiki walkthrough.
What to check if the quest seems stuck
- Confirm the state of the opening encounter: whether Daeyena survived affects which later route the walkthrough describes.
- Check your act and location: the quest starts near Fort Joy, continues around Reaper’s Coast and the Blackpits, and can reach Arx.
- Check for Trigger Spores: the gauntlet route described by the walkthrough depends on learning and using this ability.
- Review your inventory: identify which Contamination pieces you already hold before pursuing another branch.
A Larian Studios forum thread from August 2020 documents one player’s report that moving the chest piece from Lady Vengeance storage caused the quest to announce that all pieces had been found. A support representative asked for the player’s save file; the thread does not establish that this is a widespread or current bug, nor does it confirm a fix. Read the Larian forum thread.
