What is Sonic “Infinite Blue”?
Created for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary, “Infinite Blue” is an art object made from Arita porcelain. SEGA lists its dimensions as 15.6 cm wide × 22.8 cm deep × 21.3 cm high. The package includes the sculpture, a certificate, a base, and a wooden box.
The maker frames the color concept as expressing Sonic’s “fastest blue” through the enduring blue gosu associated with Japanese porcelain. That is a rendering of the Japanese promotional copy, not an English-language quotation from the announcement.

How is the sculpture made?
The work is divided between two studios: 224porcelain develops the sculptural form, while Ri-Sho Kiln handles painting and finishing. The maker says the project brings Hizen Yoshida ware tradition together with digital methods, including 3D printing.
Shaping a form that can survive firing
The sculpture’s thin, extended shapes are difficult to fire consistently. According to the maker, small variations in thickness can lead to shrinkage problems, warping, cracks, or breakage. The studios repeatedly refined the digital data and molds and conducted firing tests to balance the flowing silhouette with structural strength.

YOYOYO/MARUKYU reports about eight months of development. It also says a craftsperson can form one to two pieces per day; both figures are maker-reported, not independently audited production statistics.
Painting the blue and patterns
For the decoration, the maker describes underglaze painting: outlines are drawn with a fine brush, then gosu blue pigment is built up in layers. The studio combines gosu pigments to pursue a brighter Sonic blue while retaining the depth of traditional indigo.

How limited is it, and how can buyers order?
The release is limited to 50 numbered pieces worldwide. The announced sale date is October 9, 2026. Five pieces are allocated for first-come, first-served sale at the “SONIC the Exhibition -ACROSS GENERATIONS-” event at Ikebukuro PARCO; YOYOYO’s store is scheduled to use a lottery for the rest.
The first lottery application window is October 9 at 10:00 through October 18 at 23:59 Japan time. The maker lists international shipping destinations including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, EU member states, Switzerland, and Norway.
