Yes. SEGA announced a new Virtua Fighter project at The Game Awards 2024. It was initially called the “New VIRTUA FIGHTER Project”; SEGA officially titled it VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS in June 2026 and says the next mainline entry is slated to launch in 2027. The game is not officially titled Virtua Fighter 6.
What SEGA announced at The Game Awards
SEGA revealed the project at The Game Awards 2024, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. In a December 2024 corporate release, SEGA Corporation President and COO Shuji Utsumi called it “a completely new project in the Virtua Fighter series.” The announcement used the provisional name “New VIRTUA FIGHTER Project.” SEGA Sammy’s announcement records the reveal.
Why the game is no longer just “Virtua Fighter 6”
SEGA’s June 8, 2026 release gave the project its official title, VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS, and described it as the next mainline entry in the series. “Virtua Fighter 6” may be used informally to describe a new numbered sequel, but it is not the name SEGA announced. Release window, platforms and price
SEGA lists 2027 as the launch window. Its official product information gives both platform and price as TBA, so there is no confirmed system, preorder date, or price to report. SEGA names itself as publisher and classifies the genre as “Fighting Adventure.”

What kind of game is CROSSROADS?
A single-player story with four protagonists
SEGA describes a single-player adventure following four protagonists in Vilasapara, a fictional metropolis in Southeast Asia. Story Mode is set to include fights, side stories, and quests.
One-on-one Battle Mode
Battle Mode is described as one-on-one play, available both online and offline. SEGA has also shown gameplay footage at EVO 2025, according to the Virtua Fighter official portal.

Combat systems SEGA outlined in 2025
A September 2025 project update introduced two battle rules, Standard and Uprising, alongside three named systems: Break & Rush, Stunner & Stun Combo, and Flow Guard.
