In Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, press Up on the D-pad to open Photo Mode when using a controller; this entry control is reported by a pre-Enhanced-update tutorial, so check the prompt displayed in your game if it differs. Compose your shot in Photo Mode, hide the interface, then take the screenshot with your platform’s capture function. On Steam, F12 is one reported example—not a universal game capture button.
How to open Photo Mode
- Use the displayed Photo Mode prompt. A June 2024 CoalaTV tutorial reports that pressing Up on the D-pad opens Photo Mode on PC and Xbox. Since that tutorial predates the Enhanced update and is not an official current control map, use the prompt shown in your own game if you are on a different platform, using a keyboard, or have changed your controls.
- Frame the scene and adjust settings. Use the controls shown in the Photo Mode interface to compose your image and change the available settings. The Enhanced update improved Photo Mode settings, but Ninja Theory’s announcement does not list every setting or its button mapping.
- Hide the interface and take the screenshot. Photo Mode and saving a screenshot are separate actions: hide the on-screen interface, then use your platform or launcher’s screenshot function. Steam players have reported using F12; the shortcut may differ with your platform or configuration.
Using the Motion tab for video
The Enhanced update added a Motion tab for custom cinematic video capture. Open Photo Mode and select Motion if you want to create a moving shot. Ninja Theory’s announcement does not specify the export format, recording duration, or where a resulting video is saved, so check the current in-game interface for those details rather than assuming they are the same on every platform.
Platform and update notes
The Enhanced update launched on August 12, 2025. Ninja Theory announced it as a free update for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam, with a PS5 release on the same date. Its Photo Mode improvements and Motion tab apply to Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. The official announcement describes the update’s broad features, but does not provide a complete current control or screenshot-shortcut chart for each platform.
For clarity, an official patch note dated December 18, 2025 mentions a motion-blur fix for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice on PS5—not for Hellblade II. It should not be treated as a Photo Mode fix for this game.
