Is Serious Sam 4 any good?
It can be, if your priority is arcade-style shooting: Steam presents the game around a broad arsenal, large battles, and its Legion System, which is intended to put thousands of enemies on the battlefield. Metacritic’s displayed critic excerpts praise elements including shooting, enemies, humor, and old-school action, but the overall critic result is mixed rather than a consensus recommendation.
In the Metacritic snapshot captured in 2026, the game had a 68 Metascore from 74 critic reviews. The displayed critic rollup was 36% positive, 61% mixed, and 3% negative. Metacritic also showed a 7.1 user score from 416 ratings. These figures describe that site’s samples, not every player’s view.
Steam’s separate captured snapshot showed 82% positive among 5,103 English-language reviews. That is a different pool of user reviews from Metacritic’s ratings, so the figures should not be combined or treated as directly comparable scores. Both aggregates can change over time.

What does the combat and scale offer?
The game’s central pitch is combat at an exaggerated scale: keep moving, use the arsenal against waves of enemies, and take on battles that are larger than the conventional small-arena encounter. Steam highlights the Legion System and advertises battlefields with thousands of enemies. That is the clearest reason to choose Serious Sam 4 over a shooter focused on stealth, intricate tactical systems, or a tightly controlled narrative.
That scale also comes with a meaningful caveat. One critic excerpt displayed by Metacritic describes the game as a decent slice of old-school shooter action when combat is working, but flags the Legion System crashing a PC as a problem. It is an example of a reviewer’s experience, not proof that every system will crash. The available review snapshot does not establish how often crashes occur or how performance compares across hardware.

Can your PC run Serious Sam 4?

Does Serious Sam 4 have co-op?
Yes. Steam lists single-player and online co-op, and describes the campaign as supporting up to four players online. The listed mode is online co-op; the store information cited here does not establish local split-screen co-op.
