How weapon perk unlocks work
Weapon progression, mastery points, and weapon perks are connected, but they are not the same thing. Progress the selected weapon, then use a mastery point in its perk tree to unlock a perk. Patch 6.0 explicitly added an additional mastery point when a weapon is fully upgraded, including retroactively for weapons already upgraded at the time of that update. Focus Entertainment’s Patch 6.0 notes do not provide a universal point total or XP requirement for every weapon version.

Unlock a perk in Operations
- Choose the weapon and check its progression. At the Battle Barge Armoury, select the weapon you want to improve and inspect its progression and perk-tree screens. Note the displayed XP or mastery requirement for the specific weapon version before you start an Operation.
- Use that weapon in Operations to progress it. Progress is tied to the selected weapon’s upgrade system. Return to its screen after playing to check whether progression has made a mastery point available.
- Spend the point in the weapon’s perk tree. Select an available perk in that weapon’s tree and apply the mastery point. A point does not automatically unlock a perk until you spend it.
- Fully upgrade the weapon if you are pursuing its final progression. Patch 6.0 documents an additional mastery point for fully upgrading a weapon. The notes say this was also granted retroactively, but do not specify a single current XP threshold that applies to all weapons and versions.
Armoury Data is a separate progression resource
Armoury Data is not a mastery point. Patch 6.0 added a Tech-Priest workshop exchange that lets players refine lower-tier Armoury Data into higher-tier variants; the notes also say Armoury Data can be sold for Requisition points. An exchange does not itself unlock a weapon perk, so keep the data you need for weapon progression rather than selling it. The official notes cited here do not establish a current exchange cost. Keep weapon perks separate from other unlocks
Weapon perks are not class perks, and unlocking a weapon tier or version is not the same as spending a mastery point in a weapon’s perk tree. When checking what remains, look at the selected weapon’s own progression and perk screens rather than assuming that a class upgrade or a newly available weapon version has granted a weapon perk.

What changed in later patches
Patch 7.0 changed XP and perk balance
Patch 7.0 increased base XP for Operations across all difficulties by 10%. That is a historical patch change, not a current per-match XP guarantee. The patch also made a major PvE weapon-perk rebalance. Game Director Dmitriy Grigorenko described it at the time: “With this update we are rolling out a massive rebalancing and rework of weapon perks. As a result all weapons received buffs one way or another.” Perk effects and balance can change between patches, so use the current in-game descriptions when choosing a path. Patch 9.0 changed melee version progression
Patch 9.0 reworked progression for PvE melee weapon versions and described Relic melee weapons as having better stats than Artificer versions. It also characterized the melee handling choices this way: Balanced versions have moderate damage and speed, Fencing versions are fastest but deal the lowest damage, and Block versions are slowest but deal the highest damage. These are Patch 9.0 design descriptions, not a substitute for comparing the current stats shown in-game. See the official Patch 9.0 notes.

Patch 15 did not document a new perk-unlock process
Focus Entertainment announced Patch 15, the Anniversary Update II, as released on October 1, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Its announcement describes new modes, progression mechanics, and weapons, but does not specify a replacement for the weapon mastery steps above. Do not assume those steps changed solely because the update added other progression content. Read the Patch 15 announcement.

- Confirm you selected the intended weapon and version; progression requirements can depend on the version shown in the Armoury.
- Check the weapon’s own XP bar and perk tree for the requirement or whether a mastery point is ready to spend.
- If you need a higher-tier Armoury Data variant, check the Tech-Priest workshop for the available exchange rather than treating data as a mastery point.
- If the displayed progress seems inconsistent, consult the latest official patch notes before concluding that the game is bugged.
The official patch notes cited above do not establish an authoritative unlock-time estimate, a complete mastery-point total for every tree, or a full current XP table. Use the selected weapon’s in-game screen for its live requirement instead of relying on a universal number.
