Maybe—but only if the exact local price is genuinely attractive and your target games fit within 8GB of VRAM. The deal in this headline cannot be verified from the information available: no country, retailer, exact OC model or live price is identified. In the U.S., the RX 9060 XT 8GB launched at $299, but launch MSRP is not a current price quote. Treat “below MSRP” as a claim to check against the specific listing, not a confirmed deal.
What “below MSRP” means for this card
Compare the price of the precise board-partner model in your country with that region’s applicable reference price. The $299 figure is the U.S. launch MSRP for the RX 9060 XT 8GB, reported by TechSpot on June 6, 2025; it is not a guaranteed current street price or a global MSRP. The 16GB model launched at $349 in the U.S. on the same basis.

A Tom’s Hardware 2026 U.S. price snapshot listed $359 as the 8GB model’s best price, $259 as its lowest observed price, and $299 as launch MSRP. Those are dated snapshot figures, not a live offer. Separately, The FPS Review reported that an XFX Swift RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB sold below MSRP for a period in 2025; that does not establish what any retailer is charging now.
Before buying, check the listing’s country, exact SKU, seller, price and delivery costs. Then compare it with the 16GB model’s price at the same retailer or in the same market. A lower price than the launch MSRP alone does not establish good value if the 16GB alternative costs only slightly more.

Is the RX 9060 XT 8GB worth buying?
It can make sense as a budget 1080p card when the deal is real, the games you play run acceptably at your chosen settings, and you are comfortable with 8GB of video memory. An OC label does not change that capacity. Memory pressure can constrain texture quality or make certain advanced features unavailable, depending on the game.
That limitation is not merely theoretical, but neither should one demanding title stand in for every game. In Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, TechSpot found the 16GB RX 9060 XT substantially faster than the 8GB version in a demanding test, and reported that the 8GB model could not expose the game’s path-tracing option. This is evidence about that game and test, not a universal performance ratio.

- 16GB GDDR6 Memory on 128‑Bit Bus: Equipped with 16GB of high‑speed GDDR6 memory running at 20 Gbps, offering ample capacity and bandwidth for modern game textures and creative applications.
Steven Walton, TechSpot reviewer, characterized the 8GB capacity as a concern, writing: “With many modern games already pushing past the limits of 8GB, and more to come, selling graphics cards at $300 or $380 with just 8GB of memory feels out of step with today’s needs – and tomorrow’s expectations.” That is the reviewer’s assessment, not a standard or a guarantee that every current game exceeds 8GB.

RX 9060 XT 8GB vs. 16GB: what the evidence shows
The two versions share the RX 9060 XT name, but their memory capacity can matter more than a factory overclock in games that demand it. The following results are specific to the named test and should not be generalized to every game or setting.

| Cyberpunk 2077, 1440p, RT Ultra | Tested Asus Prime 8GB sample: 26 average FPS and 17 FPS 1% lows at stock; 26 average FPS and 19 FPS 1% lows after the tested overclock | Stock 16GB card in PC Gamer’s comparison: 30 average FPS and 24 FPS 1% lows |
| Other demanding game evidence | In TechSpot’s demanding Indiana Jones and the Great Circle test, the 8GB model was substantially slower than the 16GB version and could not expose the path-tracing option | TechSpot found it substantially faster than the 8GB model in that particular test |
The launch pricing and reference power figures come from Tom’s Hardware’s 2025 launch coverage and TechSpot’s June 2025 review. The frame rates are from PC Gamer’s 2026 test. Board-partner cards may have different power, cooling and dimensions from reference specifications.
Does overclocking fix 8GB VRAM limits?
No. Overclocking can raise GPU operating performance within the card’s limits, but it does not add memory. Gains vary by game, settings and sample. PC Gamer’s 1440p Cyberpunk 2077 test illustrates the distinction: the tested Asus Prime 8GB sample stayed at 26 average FPS in RT Ultra after overclocking, while its 1% lows rose from 17 to 19 FPS. The stock 16GB card in that comparison delivered 30 average FPS and 24 FPS 1% lows. These numbers describe those tested cards and settings; they do not predict results in other games.

For a purchase decision, look at both average frame rates and 1% lows in the games you actually play, alongside whether the desired texture or ray-tracing options are available. A small overclocking gain cannot compensate when a game’s memory requirements are the limiting factor.

- Verify the deal. Confirm the country, retailer, seller, exact OC model or SKU, final price and availability on the product page. Do not rely on an old sale or a search result snippet.
- Compare local alternatives. Check the RX 9060 XT 16GB at the same time and in the same market. Use the actual price gap, rather than the U.S. launch MSRP gap, if you are buying elsewhere.
- Match the card to your games. Check performance at your target resolution and settings, paying attention to 1% lows and VRAM-sensitive features such as high-resolution textures or path tracing.
- Check the exact board’s fit and terms. Confirm dimensions, power requirements, cooling and warranty on the specific product listing. The 150W and 160W figures above describe reference specifications, not every partner card.
If the 8GB version is substantially cheaper locally and your game list and settings suit it, it may be a reasonable low-upfront-cost 1080p choice. If the 16GB premium is modest, or your priorities include demanding games, higher settings or memory-intensive features, favor the 16GB version rather than expecting an OC badge to overcome the capacity difference.
