Choose Fame if you want to prioritize the early-game Entreat action; choose Wealth or Power if their associated actions appeal to you more. The choice boosts your selected influence and sets your starting quest, but it is not a permanent story lockout: all three paths remain available.
What does choosing Wealth, Power, or Fame affect?
According to Game8’s choice guide, last updated January 5, 2026, your selection gives that influence a boost and determines which quest you begin with. It does not prevent you from pursuing the other two questlines.

Influence matters because Path Actions depend on both your influence and the values of the people you meet. Square Enix explains that “In this game, the actions that can be taken will vary based on your influence and peoples’ values: Wealth, Power, or Fame.” Its official system introduction gives these examples:

| Power | Contend or Impress through combat |
| Fame | Entreat or Recruit; success rates are affected by influence |
These are examples from Square Enix, not a claim that they exhaust every possible action or interaction. Invite is another action: it can be used when someone wishes to relocate to your town.

Which influence should you choose?
Choose Fame for early Entreat utility
Game8 recommends Fame because its influence can improve Entreat success. This is a practical preference if you expect to use Entreat early, not a universally optimal choice. No specific bonus or success-rate figure is established by the cited sources.
Choose Wealth or Power for their actions
Pick Wealth if Purchase or Hire is the play style you would rather prioritize, or Power if you prefer Contend or Impress. The choice is about which influence and starting quest you want to begin with; it does not require sacrificing the other paths.

Can you play the other paths later?
Yes. Game8 reports that all three questlines remain available and can be started in any order or mixed together. You do not need to choose Fame to access the other paths or their content.
