The Luocha-or-Ruan-Mei free-choice offer discussed here was part of Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.2’s 2025 anniversary period; it is not announced in the official Version 4.6 notice. If you currently see a choice in your game, pick based on your roster: Luocha for healing and sustain utility, or Ruan Mei for Break support and broader damage buffs.
Is Luocha or Ruan Mei currently free to claim?
The cited choice belongs to the Version 3.2 anniversary period in 2025. A HoYoLAB guide published April 9, 2025 describes that offer as a choice between the two characters: the Version 3.2 Luocha-or-Ruan-Mei guide.
HoYoverse’s official Version 4.6 notice covers September 28 through November 11, 2026 (UTC+8). It lists a seven-day login reward of 10 Star Rail Special Passes, but does not announce a free Luocha or Ruan Mei claim: Version 4.6 update notice.
That notice does not establish whether an account-specific offer or shop option is available to you. Check the current event and shop screens in-game, including any eligibility and expiry details, before spending or claiming.

| Break-team support or a damage support that can also work outside Break teams | Ruan Mei | The same guide presents her as a Break specialist with broader team use: HoYoLAB Ruan Mei guide. |

How to decide before you claim
- Check whether the offer is actually present. Open the in-game event and shop screens and read the offer’s eligibility, expiration, and any currency requirements.
- Look at the gap in your roster. Choose Luocha if dependable healing and his dispel utility would improve your teams. Choose Ruan Mei if your teams can use Break support or her broader damage-support role.
- If neither is a clear upgrade, do not assume you can wait. Confirm the claim deadline and saving rules in the game first; the older community discussion does not verify that the offer remains available.
