If you mean the fake Witcher, your decision changes how the villagers deal with him, but the cited walkthrough reports no difference in quest rewards. Choose based on whether Geralt would expose him, show mercy, demand restitution, or banish him.
Why Dandelion and the Witcher Wannabe are separate
Witcher Wannabe concerns an impostor in Lindenvale, not Dandelion. Dandelion appears in a separate Novigrad quest thread: Cabaret follows A Poet Under Pressure and centers on the Rosemary and Thyme. Its décor decision is between a theatrical look and a boudoir look; a user-contributed walkthrough describes the immediate effect as primarily aesthetic and suggests Dandelion favors the theatrical option. That is not a choice in Witcher Wannabe. Gamer Guides: Witcher Wannabe Prima Games: Witcher Wannabe User-contributed Cabaret walkthrough
When and how to start Witcher Wannabe
The quest follows Contract: The Merry Widow in Lindenvale. The cited walkthroughs differ slightly on timing: one says five days after the contract, while another advises leaving and returning after roughly a week. Treat it as available after several in-game days rather than relying on an exact day.
- Speak with the ealdorman in Lindenvale after enough in-game time has passed.
- Travel to the cemetery east of the village and deal with the ghoul there.
- Use Witcher Senses to follow footprints to the suspicious man.
- When you confront him, decide whether to expose his identity or cover for him, then choose his consequence.
What each Witcher Wannabe choice does
The choice comes in two parts: whether Geralt reveals the man is not a real Witcher, and what consequence he recommends or imposes. The dialogue below is reported by Gamer Guides; the available outcomes are described by the cited walkthroughs.

| Route | Dialogue or action | Reported outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Expose him and hand him over | Say “Only one here,” then choose “Take him to the village elder.” | The elder decides his fate. Gamer Guides characterizes this as a harsh outcome, noting the elder’s treatment of thieves and the impostor’s conduct toward the elder’s daughter. |
| Expose him and let him go | Say “Only one here,” then choose “Let him go.” | The villagers allow him to leave and warn that they will set the hounds on him if he returns. |
| Cover for him and require restitution | Say “Took two Witchers to kill this ghoul,” then choose “He’s gotta work off his failure.” | He must work for the village for a year. On a later visit, the guide reports that he can be found working a field. |
| Cover for him and exile him | Say “Took two Witchers to kill this ghoul,” then choose “He’s not allowed to return to this village.” | He is banished from the village. |
Gamer Guides’ walkthrough reports 10 EXP for finding the fake Witcher and 75 EXP for completing the quest, regardless of which route you choose. These are in-game quest rewards as reported by that guide.

There is no sourced mechanical best choice. Gamer Guides says the outcome is a matter of personal preference, and the consulted walkthroughs do not report a superior reward or a main-story consequence for any route. Let Geralt’s values decide:

- Choose the elder if Geralt would expose the fraud and leave judgment to the village authority.
- Let him go if Geralt thinks the villagers should not punish him further, despite his deception.
- Require a year of work if Geralt favors restitution to the community over either a pardon or banishment.
- Banish him if Geralt wants to protect the village from another return without handing him over to the elder.
These are role-playing distinctions, not claims that one ending grants a better item, more experience, or a different larger story branch.
