The interaction kills your character, but that death is intentional: you respawn and can return to St. Trina to drink again. Leaving the nectar alone means this quest route will not progress through the interaction.
What happens when you imbibe the nectar?
- Your first drink kills you. St. Trina’s “Imbibe Nectar” interaction causes an immediate in-game death. You return through the normal respawn loop and can go back to her.
- Drink repeatedly to hear her. Game8’s guide says four drinks are needed to hear St. Trina’s first words. Further drinks reveal additional dialogue; four is not necessarily the total needed for every nectar-related message.
- Tell Thiollier what she said. Return to Thiollier and report St. Trina’s words. He initially refuses to believe you, so repeat the conversation option when prompted.
- Continue the quest path. After the required dialogue progression, Thiollier invades. Defeat him to receive St. Trina’s Smile, then return to the Garden of Deep Purple and exhaust his dialogue to continue. These later events are optional quest consequences, not rewards for the first drink alone.
Quest guides differ in how they describe the number of drinks: Game8 identifies four as the threshold for St. Trina’s first words, while another walkthrough describes six drinks to hear all of her initial messages. The exact progression depends on which dialogue you are pursuing.

What to do before drinking
- Spend runes you do not want to risk. The interaction causes repeated deaths if you keep drinking, so use or bank carried runes first.
- Do not put off the quest indefinitely if you want to complete it. Guide and community quest-path records describe world-progression milestones that can move Thiollier from earlier locations or affect when NPC steps are available. They do not establish every possible cutoff, so proceed with the quest when its path opens rather than relying on an assumed unlimited window.
Should you do it?
Choose “Imbibe Nectar” if you want St. Trina’s dialogue and the linked Thiollier quest. The death is expected, and repeated drinks are part of the interaction. If you are not interested in that optional quest path, you can leave the nectar untouched.
