What happens if you kill Gowry early?
Gowry is involved in Millicent’s quest, and his dialogue and shop develop as her story progresses. The Eldenpedia Gowry guide describes giving him the Unalloyed Gold Needle, reloading to receive the repaired needle, and returning for further dialogue and shop changes. Killing him before you finish the quest means losing the chance to see those later interactions.

This is a local quest and reward decision, not an Elden Ring ending choice.
When to kill Gowry
- While Millicent’s quest is active: Leave Gowry alive. Return to him and exhaust his available dialogue as it changes during the quest.
- At Millicent’s final choice: Pick the branch whose reward and story outcome you want. Aiding her gives the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and continues her story; challenging her gives Millicent’s Prosthesis and ends the quest at that branch.
- If you aided Millicent: After her quest outcome, return to Gowry and hear his dialogue before killing him for his Bell Bearing and Flock’s Canvas Talisman.
- If you challenged Millicent: Return to Gowry’s shack and check his body for the Bell Bearing and Flock’s Canvas Talisman.
What should you do?
If you want Millicent’s story and Gowry’s remaining dialogue, keep him alive until her quest is complete, then collect his items. If you are taking the challenge branch, check Gowry’s body afterward. The available guides document these quest outcomes, but do not identify a tested game patch for them.
