What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Yes. You can leave a PS5 game disc in the console between play sessions; Sony says to keep the disc inserted whenever you play that disc-based game, but does not instruct players to eject it after each session. If you will not use the disc for an extended period, put it back in its case.
Is it okay to leave a PS5 game disc in overnight?
Sony’s guidance does not require you to remove a disc after an ordinary session, so leaving it in overnight is consistent with that guidance. Sony’s disc-game instructions say to keep the disc inserted every time you play the game. They do not say that it must be ejected when you finish.
This is not a guarantee about every possible console condition; it reflects the instructions Sony provides for playing disc-based games. The guidance does not identify routine disc insertion as a cause of damage to the disc or console.
When should you take the disc out?
If you expect to play the same game again soon, leaving its disc in is convenient. If you will not use it for an extended period, eject it normally and store it in its case. Sony’s PS5 Safety Guide for the CFI-12XXA model family recommends case storage for discs that will not be used for an extended time. It does not define a specific number of days or weeks for “extended.”

How should you handle or clean a PS5 game disc?
Hold the disc by its edges and avoid touching its surface. If it is dirty or scratched, Sony recommends using a lint-free cloth made for Blu-ray Discs or DVDs and wiping from the centre toward the edge. See Sony’s disc troubleshooting guidance for the cleaning instructions.
