In the Corpo lifepath prologue, Harry, V’s subordinate in Arasaka counterintelligence, briefs V about an informant inside Biotechnica. V can order Harry to pull the informant out or let him continue gathering information.

Pull him out
This is the protective choice. The GamersHeroes guide describes it as getting the informant out of danger.
Keep him digging
This puts the intelligence operation ahead of the informant’s safety. In the GamersHeroes account, Harry questions V’s decision; the guide does not document a later payoff.
