Should You Pull The Herta, Aglaea, or Another Character in HSR 3.0?

The Herta and Aglaea offered different combat identities in HSR 3.0. Here’s how to weigh their roles, the reruns, and the fact that those banners are historical.

There was no source-supported universal winner among Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0’s limited characters. The Herta offered Ice Erudition area damage built around Interpretation stacks; Aglaea offered Lightning Remembrance combat with her Garmentmaker memosprite. The better choice depended on which role and play style your roster needed—and whether a rerun fit better. These were 2025 banners, not currently available Version 3.0 choices.

How The Herta and Aglaea differed

The official Version 3.0 preview described distinct combat identities, but did not establish which character was stronger for a particular account or in endgame content.

Character Type Announced combat identity Roster question
The Herta Ice, Erudition Area damage built around Interpretation: she applies stacks to enemies, and allied attacks can add more. Her abilities use the stacks to strengthen hits across targets. Did you want this area-damage and stacking style, and did it fill a need on your account?
Aglaea Lightning, Remembrance Fights alongside Garmentmaker, her memosprite. Their attacks synchronize, and the preview highlighted increased memosprite Speed. Did you want a memosprite-centered style, and did it fill a need on your account?

These descriptions come from the official preview, not a comparative performance ranking. HoYoverse’s Version 3.0 announcement, republished by PlayStation Blog, identifies their kits and roles but does not name a universal best pull.

What the Version 3.0 banner choice included

Version 3.0 was announced to launch on January 15, 2025. The two new five-star characters appeared in different halves, alongside three rerun options in each half.

Version 3.0 half New character Announced reruns
First half The Herta Lingsha, Feixiao, Jade
Second half Aglaea Boothill, Robin, Silver Wolf

The announcement’s schedule made “another character” a real alternative: the relevant question was not only The Herta versus Aglaea, but also whether one of the reruns better served your roster. The dates and lineups are historical; see the Version 3.0 announcement for the original schedule.

A practical way to decide

  1. Identify the gap. Decide whether you wanted an area-damage character with Interpretation stacks, a memosprite-centered combat identity, or a rerun character instead. The preview alone cannot tell you which gap mattered most on your account.
  2. Choose the play style you wanted. The Herta’s announced kit emphasized attacks across multiple targets and stack-building through allied attacks. Aglaea’s emphasized fighting with Garmentmaker and synchronized attacks.
  3. Compare the full phase lineup. Consider the announced reruns in the same half before spending limited Warp resources. A character’s presence on a banner does not by itself make that character the right choice for your roster.
  4. Set a resource limit before pulling. Decide how much of your available Warp budget you were willing to spend, including whether you wanted to reserve resources for a later banner. No source cited here establishes a personalized pull value or outcome.

These are historical banner choices

HoYoverse’s May 9, 2025 Version 3.3 announcement later listed The Herta and Aglaea for reruns in the first and second halves, respectively. That is a dated example of later availability, not a promise about future reruns. It also means the original Version 3.0 banners should not be treated as current options.
