Where the mayor choice happens
During Shadow’s Crossing, Rook finds Mayor Julius trapped in the blighted remains of D’Meta’s Crossing. Julius allowed the Blight into the village after hearing the elven gods’ voices. You must decide what to do with him.
What happens if you save Julius?
Saving Julius increases Neve’s approval and decreases Bellara’s, according to the consulted guides. Game8 also reports that Harding’s approval decreases. Julius warns Rook about the gods’ ability to indoctrinate people, but PC Gamer reports that the warning has no further effect.

This choice does not unlock the special later quest associated with leaving Julius.
What happens if you leave Julius?
Leaving Julius increases Bellara’s approval and decreases Neve’s. Game8 also reports an increase in Harding’s approval. More importantly for quest-seekers, this choice unlocks A Growing Corruption in Arlathan Forest, where Julius later appears in blighted form.

What if Rook is a Grey Warden?
A Rook with the Grey Warden background can choose to send Julius to the Wardens instead of simply saving or leaving him. Guides report a distinct approval outcome and later involvement for Julius, but the full quest outcome is not established here. Treat it as a faction-specific alternative rather than assuming it leads to either of the other choices’ outcomes.

Which choice should you make?
- Choose “Leave” if you want access to A Growing Corruption and its later blighted Julius encounter.
- Choose “Save” if you prefer the approval outcome that favors Neve over Bellara.
- As a Grey Warden, consider the Wardens option as a separate path; its complete later consequences are not established here.
