Spoilers for Necessary Evil: If the confrontation at Semine has already begun and your priority is protecting Olda and the residents, side with Semine. Henry fights Hashek’s force, and the family escapes, but Semine’s fortress is still burned as cover. To keep the settlement intact, the important choice comes earlier: avoid naming Olda in the report that prompts von Bergow to send Hashek.
What happens if you side with Hashek?
In Necessary Evil, siding with Hashek means Henry joins the troops attacking Semine. Guide accounts describe severe consequences for the settlement, including deaths among its defenders and residents and the loss or burning of the fortress. They do not describe every character’s fate identically, so avoid assuming a particular individual’s outcome from the broad choice alone. What happens if you side with Olda Semine?
Henry fights Hashek’s force instead, protecting the Semines from the immediate assault. The family escapes, but the fortress is burned as cover, according to the September 3, 2026 update to the KCD2.org guide. So this is the better choice if your concern is the people during the active confrontation—not if you want to preserve Semine’s buildings, services, or local activities.
Can you stop Semine from burning?
Yes, according to the September 2026 guide, but you need to avoid triggering the raid before Hashek arrives. Its reported route starts in Back in the Saddle: keep Olda’s earlier departure for a wedding out of the report. Then, in Necessary Evil, report the bandits’ location without naming Olda. The guide says this prevents the raid and leaves Semine and its local activities intact.

Exact dialogue options or checks may vary by guide account; this route has not been verified against a named game version or patch. The key distinction is timing: once the confrontation is underway, siding with Semine saves people from Hashek’s immediate assault but does not save the fortress.
Should you tell von Bergow about Olda Semine?
The prisoner can connect Olda to the bandits, and Henry’s report to Otto von Bergow can lead to the confrontation at Semine. PC Gamer describes the outcome as depending both on whether Henry tells von Bergow about Olda and, if the confrontation follows, which side Henry chooses. If you want to preserve the settlement, do not identify Olda in the report; if you disclose his involvement and the raid begins, choose Semine to protect the people from the immediate attack.
