When baggies make more sense
Before jars unlock
Baggies and the basic Packaging Station are listed as available at Street Rat I, while jars unlock at Street Rat III. Until you reach Street Rat III, baggies are the available option between these two.
For expensive mixes or smaller sales
A third-party Schedule I packaging guide recommends bags for expensive mixes and smaller sales. Since each baggie holds one unit, you can offer less at a time than with a five-unit jar. That can help keep a transaction smaller when you do not want to sell five units together.

When jars make more sense
For bulk stock and lower-cost product
A jar holds five units, so packing five units takes one jar rather than five baggies. At the listed prices, that is $3 for a jar compared with $5 for five baggies—an arithmetic comparison of the item values, not a published profit statistic. The packaging guide also recommends jars for mass-produced, lower-cost product when clearing stock.
For repeated packing
The item database lists Packaging Station V2 at Hoodlum V and describes it as much faster for packing. It gives no measured time savings, so consider it a progression option for frequent packing rather than a quantified efficiency upgrade.
Does packaging change what dealers sell?
There is no conclusive, current rule established here about how dealers handle larger packages. In an April 1, 2025 Steam Community discussion, a player asked whether dealers sell the same amount from either package; replies included a report that dealers break larger packages down, alongside uncertainty about inventory space and inconsistent reports. That is player discussion, not verified current behavior. If dealer deliveries matter to your plan, check the current game build and the dealer’s available inventory rather than assuming a jar and baggie behave identically.

- Use baggies if you have not unlocked jars, want to package one unit at a time, or need smaller transactions for an expensive mix.
- Use jars if you are packaging five units for bulk stock and want fewer packages at the listed lower packaging cost.
- Check dealer handling in your current build before relying on a particular package size for deliveries.
The cited item values and guide recommendations do not establish that either package produces higher overall profit or sells through faster in every situation.
