In Silent Hill f, the Field Puzzle is a five-stage scarecrow challenge encountered during the second visit to Ebisugaoka, in the foggy field on the way to Rinko’s house. At each group, read the clue and remove the nail from the scarecrow that fits it. The correct choice points you onward; choose the wrong figure and it attacks. The answers change with Riddle Difficulty, so use the matching section below rather than mixing solutions.
This guide covers Story, Hard, and Lost in the Fog. The game is inferred from the otherwise ambiguous title “Field Puzzle Guide”; the walkthrough coverage identifies this particular puzzle as the likely match.
How the Field Puzzle works
Find the Mysterious Note near the beginning of the sequence, then read the passage attached to each scarecrow group. You must make a selection five times. The clue may describe a figure’s visible trait, weapon, expression, position, or relationship to the others. Compare the wording with the figures in the current group before removing a nail.
Riddle Difficulty changes the clues and targets. The guides below report solutions for Story, Hard, and Lost in the Fog; a clue from one setting is not a reliable answer for another. If a chosen scarecrow attacks, that was the wrong selection.

Story difficulty answers
For the first Story clue, “Who are you? Why do you always have to be different than everyone else? Freak,” Gameranx identifies the target as the only scarecrow holding a bladed weapon. [Gameranx]
The available guide coverage says Story-mode answers can be identified by comparing each passage with the group’s visible features and positions, but its supplied notes do not establish all five targets in enough detail to reproduce a complete answer sequence reliably. Use the Story clue and the figures present at each stage rather than applying answers listed for another difficulty.

Hard difficulty answers
Hard has its own clue wording and target sequence; do not substitute the Story or Lost in the Fog selections. The available walkthrough coverage confirms that the Hard answers are described through traits and positions, but does not establish the full five-stage sequence here. Read each Hard clue against the figures in its group and choose the one that matches the specific description.
Lost in the Fog answers
Lost in the Fog also uses distinct clues and targets. At the final stage, Game8’s guide says to follow the trail of dead scarecrows to find the isolated target. [Game8] Do not treat that final-stage direction as a solution for Story or Hard.

For the earlier Lost in the Fog stages, compare the clue’s described traits, weapons, expressions, positions, or relationships with the current group. The available guide notes do not establish a complete sequence of all five target descriptions, so a fully specified answer list cannot be given without guessing.

Two secondary guides report that completing the entire field puzzle without choosing a wrong scarecrow unlocks the “Acupuncture Specialist” achievement.
