Enter Sinner’s Road from northeast Greymoor, near Halfway Home; you need Cling Grip to reach the approach. Shakra’s bench is not usable just because you pay its toll: climb above her, break through the cracked wall, clear the hidden spike route, then cut the roots clogging the lift mechanism. The Simple Key is near the top of the eastern shaft and opens the Green Prince’s cell. Sinner’s Road also has routes toward Bilewater and, through The Mist, Exhaust Organ.
Before you enter Sinner’s Road
The main entrance is northeast of Halfway Home in Greymoor, and reaching its upper approach requires Cling Grip. An eastern Greymoor shortcut leads to Styx’s nest, but it does not provide a direct entrance to the rest of Sinner’s Road. The Hollow Knight Wiki’s area notes describe the connections between the region and its neighbors.

For a more comfortable traversal, the route guide recommends Cling Grip and Drifter’s Cloak; Faydown Cloak can help in optional rooms and a later boss area. The same guide reports Muckroaches, Roachfeeders, Roachkeepers, pendulum hazards, and infested water. Contact with infested water applies an effect that prevents healing; Bind clears the infestation but does not restore lost health. Find Shakra’s bench and make it work
- Enter from Greymoor and continue through the first corridor. In the next long corridor, avoid the floor lever that drops you into infested water.
- Proceed to the cages and pendulums, then take the left exit into a small hub. Cross the pendulum above the water to reach Shakra.
- If you want the map and bench, the walkthrough reports prices of 90 Rosaries for the map and 60 Rosaries for the bench toll. These in-game amounts are reported by a secondary guide and may vary with game updates; check the current build if the price differs.
- Do not expect payment to activate the bench. Climb above Shakra and strike the cracked wall at the top to uncover a hidden route.
- Make your way through the spike-platforming section, then enter the water tunnel and slash the roots or vines obstructing the lift mechanism.
- Return to Shakra’s bench and rest. The guides report that resting after clearing the mechanism activates the checkpoint and clears the infestation.
PC Gamer notes an optional technique for parts of the spike challenge: striking diagonally can let you pogo through sections. It is not required for the route. After the bench is active, use the vertical shaft to reach a lever that drops a cage lift, creating a more reliable connection between the ground level and the bench area. Find the Simple Key and open the Green Prince’s cell
- From the upper route, continue through the hazardous corridor into the eastern shaft.
- Near the top, deal with the Roachkeeper on a levered platform and collect the Simple Key. All Things How places the key here; PC Gamer also identifies it as a reward associated with the Roachkeeper encounter. See the route walkthrough and PC Gamer’s guide.
- Take the one-way drop to return more quickly, then use the key on the Green Prince’s cell in the connector area.
This is the Simple Key found in Sinner’s Road; do not mistake it for keys obtained elsewhere in Pharloom.
Choose an exit: Bilewater or The Mist
To Bilewater
On the eastern-shaft route, look for a breakable wall that opens the passage toward Bilewater. Sinner’s Road links Greymoor and Bilewater, as noted in the area overview.

Through The Mist toward Exhaust Organ
At the upper-left end of the long horizontal room, break through the wall to enter The Mist. The walkthrough says this sequence leads to Exhaust Organ. Use Needolin near the small white moths and follow the direction they indicate to choose the correct exit; a wrong choice sends you back to the start. The walkthrough’s Mist route gives the area-specific directions.

- Styx’s silken bed has a bench interaction; reaching Styx’s nest via the eastern Greymoor shortcut does not create a direct route into the rest of Sinner’s Road.
A separate Steel Soul guide describes a variant route and recommends fixing the broken bench before proceeding. Its Steel Soul and speedrun advice is not necessary for the standard route.

- You paid, but cannot rest: Payment alone does not finish the repair. Find the cracked wall above Shakra and complete the hidden route.
- You reached the water tunnel, but nothing changed: Slash the roots or vines clogging the lift mechanism, then return and rest at the bench.
- Infested water is preventing healing: The route guide says Bind clears the infestation, but it does not restore health.
- You cannot reach the entrance: Get Cling Grip before trying the upper northeast approach from Greymoor.
Team Cherry describes Silksong as an interconnected 2D world with traversal abilities and tools, but its official game page does not provide directions for Sinner’s Road. The route and prices above rely on secondary walkthroughs and community area notes, so a later update could change specific details.
