SKALE was the blockchain partner for the game’s gasless on-chain play. SKALE announced Cryptopia live on its network on November 27, 2024, but Cryptopia’s later project archive says active development is no longer continuing. The announcement and the current-status question are therefore separate.
How Cryptopia’s free-to-play-and-earn model was meant to work
Cryptopia describes itself as a multiplayer, on-chain role-playing game. Its whitepaper says players do not need to buy an NFT to begin and describes an account with an integrated multisignature wallet, so in-game interactions would not require a separate external wallet. That is the project’s stated onboarding design, not evidence of guaranteed earnings or a profitable investment.

The economy connects two playstyles. Adventurers progress by exploring and completing quests; Tycoons put resources into land, facilities, and other productive assets. Tycoons may pay other players for work, while Adventurers can earn through quests and player-provided jobs. In the project’s model, value flows between participants rather than coming from a promised fixed return.
| Role | Primary activity | Economic relationship |
|---|---|---|
| Adventurer | Explore, complete quests, gain XP, and develop a career; provide services or labor to other players. | Can earn through quests and jobs offered by other players. |
| Tycoon | Invest in land, resources, and facilities. | Can pay players for labor and acquire assets or upgrades. |
Cryptopia’s Adventurer page also describes ships as tradable NFTs used for transportation and upgrades. Its project archive lists adventure, tycoon, pirates, and bounty hunters as gameplay tracks. These are documented design or project elements; the listings do not establish that every system is currently available or operational.
#1 Best Overall
- SOCIAL GAME – This hilariously low-stakes social game is inspired by something we all know too well: yearbooks. Players simply nominate each other for randomly selected ‘most likely to…’ superlatives–based on vibe alone.
- HOW TO PLAY - Who among your friend group would be the most likely to cry genuine tears just from watching a sappy commercial? Players secretly vote, and the card is awarded to person with the most votes. In the end, the player who collects the most cards is declared the winner–relatively speaking anyway.
- PERFECT PARTY GAME - Bring Without A Doubt... to your next party and watch it be a guaranteed hit! You really think your friends know that you're one who's most likely to have an outstanding warrant? Play the game and find out! It's a game that will give you a night of hilarious superlatives and unforgettable memories. Get ready to have everyone at the party in stitches as they try to guess who out of your friend group would win these crazy superlatives.

- Brass Monkey - We’re the line between roadside souvenirs and fine china. Here to turn the things that people didn't know they wanted, into the things that they can't live without. Well designed products that just happen to have a sense of humor.
What SKALE contributed
SKALE was the blockchain infrastructure partner for Cryptopia’s on-chain systems. In its November 27, 2024 announcement that Cryptopia was live on SKALE, SKALE said the integration was chosen for zero gas fees, fast transaction finality, and modular chain design. Cryptopia’s later project archive describes gasless play on SKALE and says the TOS token was deployed on a SKALE chain. These are descriptions from the project and its infrastructure partner, not independent performance measurements; the sources do not establish that every action was on-chain or that the services remain operational.
The token naming differs across those materials: SKALE’s launch announcement calls the native token “CRT,” while Cryptopia’s archive and its own materials use “TOS” for Cryptos. Those symbols should not be treated as interchangeable without further confirmation.
SKALE’s post also attributes this statement to Cryptopia founder Frank Bonnett: “SKALE’s gas-free ecosystem is a game-changer for Cryptopia. It ensures our players can enjoy an uninterrupted, decentralized gaming experience that prioritizes gameplay and innovation. With SKALE, we’re able to bring our vision of a fully immersive blockchain game to life.” This is a founder quote reproduced by the network partner.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Cryptopia live on SKALE now?
“Live on SKALE” refers to SKALE’s dated November 2024 announcement. It should not be read as confirmation that Cryptopia is currently maintained, fully launched, or reliably playable. Cryptopia’s later archive states that “Active development is no longer continuing,” while its official demo page still displays beta builds and uses in-development language. The pages do not resolve whether current services work or whether support is available.

The archive says work remains available for reference and preservation and links historical Windows, Mac, and Android builds. The demo page warns that beta builds may contain bugs or incomplete features. Its listed versions and published requirements are:
| Platform | Displayed demo version | Requirements published by Cryptopia |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | 0.4.8.9.7g | Windows 10 or later; Intel i5 or Ryzen 5; 8 GB memory; GTX 1050 or RX 560 or better; 3 GB free space. |
| Mac | 0.4.8.9.7h1 | macOS 11 or later; Apple M1 or Intel i5; 8 GB memory; 3 GB free space. |
| Android | 0.4.8.9.7g2 | Android 11 or later; high-end ARM processor, with Snapdragon 870 or better given as an example; 8 GB RAM; 4 GB free space. |
These are Cryptopia’s published requirements, not independently tested recommendations. A listed build is not proof that it can still connect to game services, receive support, or run as intended.
What players should not infer from “earn”
Cryptopia’s materials describe possible routes to rewards—quests, player jobs, exploration, and governance—and a free starter ship NFT in SKALE’s launch announcement. They do not establish typical earnings, guaranteed rewards, sustainable returns, current token value, or a representative player’s results. No player-earnings, retention, adoption, or performance statistics are provided in the cited project and partner materials. Treat the earning language as the game’s intended economy, not a financial promise.
