Which platforms support skate. cross-play?
Cross-play currently works between:
- PC through the EA app, Steam, or Epic Games Store
- PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
- Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
EA describes skate. as an online, free-to-play game with cross-platform gameplay and cross-progression. It entered Early Access on September 16, 2025. See EA’s official FAQ and cross-play guide for platform support.

The current in-game route is the most reliable way to connect players on different platforms:

- Open the Main Menu.
- Open the Hub tab.
- Select Social & Spectate.
- Open Find Skaters.
- Search by the player’s username or six-digit Skater Code.
- Select the correct player and send the friend request.
Skater Codes are unique six-digit identifiers introduced with update 0.31.5, which began rolling out on July 21, 2026. The Find Skaters hub can display or refresh your own code, and players without one are prompted to generate it. A Skater Code Visibility setting controls whether your code appears in the interface, which can help when streaming or recording. Details are in EA’s 0.31.5 update notes.
Older EA Help instructions refer to Social & Spectate → Search. That route may still appear in support material, but Find Skaters is the newer entry point and should be used first.
Do you need to add someone on Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox first?
No. Platform friendships may appear in the game’s list in some cases, but they are not guaranteed to work across platforms. For dependable cross-play, add the player as an EA Friend through the game’s social system. Friends added through the EA app or other EA games may also appear automatically.
How to turn cross-play on or off
Cross-play is enabled automatically. To change it in the social menu:
- Open Social & Spectate.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Choose Cross-Play.
- Toggle it to Disabled to opt out.
EA also documents an alternate route from the Main Menu or Map:

- Select General.
- Scroll to Cross-Play.
- Set the option to Disabled, or enable it again when required.
On Xbox, console-level privacy and multiplayer settings can also restrict cross-play. If the in-game option does not behave as expected, check the Xbox account’s platform privacy settings.
How to allow party invites and friend requests
If another player cannot invite you or send a request, check the game’s privacy controls:

- Open Social & Spectate.
- Open Settings.
- Adjust Allow Party Invites and Allow Friend Requests.
Both settings offer Everyone, Friends Only, and No One. Set the relevant option to Everyone while adding a new cross-platform player, then tighten it afterward if preferred.
How cross-progression works
skate. uses cross-progression rather than a manual save-copy system. Your progression is associated with your EA Account, so the practical requirement is to use that same EA Account on each supported platform. There is no documented in-game “cross-save” command or save-transfer menu.
Before launching the game on another platform, verify the account connections:

- Open Connected Accounts.
- Confirm that the relevant PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, or Epic Games account is listed.
EA’s platform-specific linking instructions are:
- PlayStation: Connected Accounts → PlayStation™Network → Continue
- Xbox: Connected Accounts → Xbox → Continue
- Steam: Connected Accounts → Steam → Continue
- Epic Games: Sign in to Epic, open Library, choose Skate, select Install, and complete the EA app linking prompt
For Epic Games, the EA app opens during installation and asks you to link the Epic account to an EA Account. Follow EA’s account-linking guide rather than creating or selecting a different EA Account by mistake.

Do not unlink accounts to move a save
Unlinking is not a safe method for transferring skate. progress. EA warns that unlinking can cause you to lose access to progress, DLC and other content, memberships, previous drops and rewards, and in-game purchases. Progress and entitlements remain associated with the original EA Account; they do not transfer to a replacement account.
EA also warns that a platform linked less than one year ago may not be eligible to be linked to a different EA Account. After unlinking, it may not be possible to relink that platform to the same account, and a second PlayStation or Xbox account cannot simply be substituted for the first one. If the wrong EA Account is connected, contact EA Support before changing the link.

A cross-platform friend does not appear
Check that both players are EA Friends, not merely friends on Steam, PlayStation Network, or Xbox. Use Hub → Social & Spectate → Find Skaters to search by username or six-digit Skater Code and send the request through the game.
Skater Code search shows no party or friend actions
Update 0.31.7 fixed an issue in which a Skater Code search could leave players without options to invite someone to a party, join their party, or add them as a friend. Confirm that both players are on 0.31.7 or later, then restart the game. See the 0.31.7 patch notes.

EA identifies 852204050 as a cross-play error. Work through these checks:
- Install the latest game update on every system.
- Make sure everyone is on the same server.
- Restart the game.
- Turn cross-play off, then back on.
- Confirm each platform is linked to the correct EA Account.
- Check EA Help for an active service alert.
Error 480232561
Error 480232561 can occur when the console account is not linked to the EA Account used during Playtest registration. Check the EA Connections page and confirm that the correct EA Account is signed in.
Errors 3967269002 and 1478078408
EA associates error 3967269002 with server issues and 1478078408 with EA server issues. Changing cross-play will not normally fix these errors. Check Skate, EA, and platform service status, then troubleshoot your connection if services are operating normally.
Joining or matchmaking fails even though cross-play works
Confirm that all players are on the same server. EA specifically lists different servers as a cause of cross-play problems. Also check that party invites are allowed, the latest update is installed, and everyone is connected to the intended EA Account.
