The patch notes call out a PS5-specific correction: “Resolved an issue where Anniversary Edition Creations failed to auto-download on PlayStation 5.” That is a fix to how existing Creations download, not evidence of a new piece of downloadable story content. Bethesda’s August 20 patch notes
Update, Creations, and DLC are different things
The wording matters because Skyrim’s update and content systems overlap, but they are not interchangeable:

Creations may include new content, but their presence in the update description does not make the patch itself a newly released DLC pack.
What Anniversary Edition includes
Anniversary Edition is an existing edition of Skyrim, not the name of the August 2026 update. Bethesda describes it as including the Special Edition core game and add-ons, plus previously released and new Creation Club content—such as quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, and spells. That distinction helps explain the PS5 patch note: it fixes automatic downloads for Creations associated with Anniversary Edition. It does not say that Anniversary Edition itself, or a new add-on, launched with this patch.

What PS5 players need to know
The update’s broad changes apply to console mod storage and Creations. The specifically identified PS5 change is the fix for Anniversary Edition Creations that previously failed to auto-download. Bethesda’s cited announcement does not state a storage-capacity figure, download size, or performance change, so those details should not be inferred from the patch description.
If you are looking for “Skyrim DLC PS5,” the relevant purchase is the existing Anniversary Edition, not a new pack released on August 20. Check the current PlayStation listing for your region before buying: the product page cited here is for the US, and the available offer and format can vary. The update itself is not described as requiring a separate purchase.

Why “biggest in years” is not established
Bethesda’s update description identifies storage-limit and Creations changes, but does not call the release its biggest update in years or provide a measure that would support that ranking. The available official information supports describing it as a Skyrim Special Edition update with a PS5 auto-download fix—not as a record-setting DLC release.
