When did Slay the Spire 2 release?
Slay the Spire 2 entered Early Access on Steam on March 5, 2026. Mega Crit announced the date on February 19, then confirmed the game was available on launch day. Steam also lists March 5, 2026 as the release date. Mega Crit’s launch announcement and the Steam store page confirm the release.
As of October 8, 2026, Steam still classifies the game as Early Access. This is a completed launch into an unfinished, evolving version—not a future March release or the final 1.0 launch.
Where can you play it, and what does it include?
The Early Access version is available on Steam for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Mega Crit describes the game as a roguelike deckbuilder and says the sequel features five playable characters, including new and returning faces, alongside new cards, enemies, environments, events, relics, and mechanics. The game supports single-player and online co-op.

Those announced features do not mean every planned addition is already in the current build. Mega Crit says it will continue adding and balancing content during Early Access. Its official FAQ and press kit list the supported platforms and describe the game.
How co-op works
Up to four players can play together online, but there is no matchmaking. Mega Crit says co-op is for Steam friends, so players looking for a public queue to find random teammates should not expect one.
Is Slay the Spire 2 still in Early Access?
Yes. Steam warns that Early Access games are incomplete and may change. Mega Crit says player feedback will help with balancing, quality-of-life improvements, reliability, and experimental features. Its stated plans for the full version include more gameplay content, a true ending, additional modes, balance changes, bug fixes, broader hardware compatibility, visual effects, and more languages. These are plans, not a dated delivery schedule.
There is no confirmed 1.0 release date. Mega Crit’s launch announcement says it has no specific timeline to share; the FAQ offers only an approximate one-to-two-year expectation for Early Access. Treat that estimate as guidance, not a commitment.

How much does Slay the Spire 2 cost?
Mega Crit’s FAQ lists $24.99 USD and says regional prices vary, so that figure is not a universal price. Check the live Steam listing for the price in your region. Mega Crit also says the price will increase after Early Access on Steam, but has not specified the amount or timing.

Should you play now or wait?
- Play now if you want to try the sequel while it is evolving and are comfortable with ongoing balance changes and unfinished content.
- Wait if you prefer a complete version with the planned full-release additions in place. There is no firm date to plan around.
- Check your platform: the stated Early Access platforms are Windows, macOS, and Linux. Mega Crit says console and mobile versions likely will not arrive until after Early Access.
- Plan co-op with friends: online play supports up to four Steam friends, but not matchmaking.
