In Stardew Valley, a Slime Incubator hatches a Slime Egg into a slime. You can craft one after reaching Combat Level 8, or receive one with a Slime Hutch. Eggs take 4,000 in-game minutes to incubate, and an incubator can be placed indoors or outdoors.
What the Slime Incubator does
A Slime Incubator turns a Slime Egg into a living slime. The egg’s color determines the hatched slime’s color. Slime Eggs can be produced with an Egg-Press, dropped by slimes, or found through certain fish pond and treasure sources. See the Stardew Valley Wiki’s Slime Egg page for the listed sources and mechanics.

How to get a Slime Incubator
Craft one
The crafting recipe unlocks at Combat Level 8. It requires 2 Iridium Bars and 100 Slime. The Stardew Valley Wiki’s Slime Incubator page lists the recipe and unlock.
Use the one included with a Slime Hutch
Each Slime Hutch comes with an incubator. The original incubator can be moved; the Wiki notes that the ability to remove it was added in version 1.6.

How long hatching takes
Incubation takes 4,000 in-game minutes, equivalent to 2 days, 13 hours, and 20 minutes. The Coopmaster profession halves that incubation time. Fairy Dust does not speed up a Slime Incubator. If incubation finishes during the day, the slime hatches the next morning rather than appearing immediately.
Version matters when comparing behavior with older playthroughs: the Wiki records a version 1.6.4 fix after which incubators hatch slimes only overnight. These details are reference guidance from the community-maintained Wiki, not official developer documentation.

Where you can place it—and how many slimes can hatch
You can place a Slime Incubator indoors or outdoors, not only inside a Slime Hutch. A Slime Hutch supports up to 20 slimes; when it is full, an egg there will not hatch until space is available. The Wiki lists no slime limit for other areas, though that does not mean those areas are as contained as a hutch.
Choosing egg colors
Egg color carries through to the hatched slime, but an Egg-Press produces a random color. The Wiki lists these Egg-Press probabilities: green 64.125%, blue 21.375%, red 9.5%, and purple 5%. These are game-mechanics figures from the Wiki, not real-world statistics. If you need a particular color, account for the randomness rather than assuming the press will produce it.
Game and version context
Stardew Valley is ConcernedApe’s game; its official website provides game information and links to merchandise. The Steam listing is one storefront listing, not a guarantee of availability or pricing on every platform or in every region. For the incubator’s mechanics, the community-maintained Wiki is the detailed reference; check the version notes if your game behaves differently from an older guide.
