Rebellion states: “Sniper Elite 5 requires Windows and will not function on unsupported operating systems.” It also says Mac Parallels is not supported. The Steam listing gives the same minimum figures and the recommended configuration shown above. These specifications do not indicate how often the game crashes or predict whether a particular PC will be stable.
Work through the relevant troubleshooting checks
1. Confirm Windows, hardware, and free space
Check your Windows version, processor, installed RAM, GPU’s DirectX 12 capability and dedicated VRAM, and available storage. If a system falls below a stated minimum, rule out that compatibility gap before treating other steps as a definitive fix.

2. Update the graphics driver
For the “GPU device was lost” error, Rebellion recommends updating the graphics driver. Use the appropriate driver resource linked from its GPU device lost troubleshooting page: NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel, depending on your graphics hardware.
3. Make sure the game is using the intended GPU
Rebellion notes that the error can occur when the game is not running on the correct graphics card. Its instructions describe selecting the high-performance NVIDIA processor in NVIDIA Control Panel. Those specific menu steps apply to NVIDIA systems; do not assume they match AMD or Intel software.
4. Try Vulkan for a GPU device lost error
Rebellion recommends trying Vulkan as the rendering API for this error. Open the Sniper Elite 5 Launcher, go to Settings, select Vulkan as the rendering API, and confirm the change. This is a publisher-recommended option for the GPU device lost issue, not a universal remedy for every crash.
5. Verify files if you play through Steam
- Open Steam and go to Library.
- Right-click Sniper Elite 5 and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.

6. Use the repair option for your storefront
For an Epic, GOG, or Windows Store/Xbox App copy, use that launcher or app’s own repair or file-check option if available. Why there are fewer than eight supported fixes
The available official guidance supports the checks above, not eight distinct game-specific fixes. There is no official basis here for presenting indiscriminately disabling antivirus, running the game as administrator, reinstalling Windows, or buying new hardware as Rebellion-recommended crash remedies.
