Solar Ash is a traversal-focused action-adventure from Heart Machine, the developer of Hyper Light Drifter. You play Rei, a Voidrunner trying to save her home from the Ultravoid. Expect fast skating, acrobatic movement, exploration and battles with large enemies—not a conventional combat-first action game. Whether that mix suits you matters more than any single storefront rating.

Publisher Annapurna Interactive describes Rei’s journey through a surreal world threatened by the Ultravoid, a force consuming worlds. The story also involves the Starseed and Echo. Heart Machine highlights high-speed traversal, acrobatics, large environments, exploration, characters and mystery in its description of the game.

- Story and characters: Do Rei’s journey, the mystery and the setting hold a reviewer’s interest?
- Platform and performance: Does a review discuss the specific version you plan to play, rather than implying every platform behaves the same?
- Price and value: Does the reviewer’s verdict make sense at the price currently shown in your regional store?
These are useful decision points, not claims that reviewers agree on the game’s execution. A review that explains its experience on your intended platform and at a clearly stated price is more useful than a score without context.

Steam marks the game with a controller tag. That indicates controller support on Steam; it does not mean a controller is required or establish which controller is best.
Is there a physical edition?
Heart Machine’s FAQ says the team was “looking into” a physical release and directs questions to Annapurna Interactive. That wording is tentative, not confirmation that a physical edition was released. Annapurna’s game page links digital storefronts, so check with the publisher or your preferred retailer for current physical-edition information.

How to interpret the Steam rating
Steam’s user-review classification and percentage can change as reviews are added, and they reflect Steam users rather than a professional critic aggregate. Check the live Steam listing for its current rating and review counts; do not treat a storefront snapshot as a permanent score or as representative of every platform.
Steam also lists Solar Ash – Original Soundtrack as digital content and offers a soundtrack bundle. That is a digital soundtrack option, not evidence of a physical soundtrack release.
Verdict: who is Solar Ash for?
Solar Ash is most likely to appeal to players drawn to fast traversal, acrobatic movement, exploration and a surreal science-fiction setting.
