Solium Infernum is a turn-based grand strategy game about fighting for Hell’s vacant throne—not just with armies, but through champions, rituals, schemes, and political demands. League of Geeks’ 2024 release offers solo Chronicles and multiplayer for two to six players, including asynchronous turns. Whether it is the right game for you depends largely on whether you want a solo strategy campaign or can line up human rivals for its political mind games.

What is Solium Infernum?

In Solium Infernum, the Prince of Darkness has disappeared, leaving the Archfiends to contest the Infernal Throne. You play as one of eight Archfiends, pursuing power through a combination of military command and political maneuvering. League of Geeks made and published the game; its listed release date was February 22, 2024.

The Steam listing describes a strategy game in which orders can have lasting consequences. Players command legions, enlist champions, cast rituals, devise schemes, and make political demands. That mix sets up a contest in which force is one tool among several, rather than the whole plan.

How the play options differ

Mode What the official listing establishes Best fit
Single-player Eight Chronicles are listed by League of Geeks on its 2024 product page. Players who want to pursue the throne without arranging a human multiplayer match.
Sessional multiplayer The official site promotes multiplayer played in an intense session; the Steam listing specifies online PvP for two to six players. Groups able to set aside time to play together.
Asynchronous multiplayer The official site advertises daily asynchronous turns; the Steam listing specifies two to six players. Groups who want to take turns over time instead of completing a match in one sitting.
Skirmish The Steam product description lists skirmish play. Players looking for a match outside the listed single-player Chronicles.

Why the political layer matters

The game’s stated design puts armies and politics side by side: legions can exert force, while schemes and demands create other ways to pressure rivals. Champions and rituals add further tools to the contest. The intended appeal is that power can be pursued through more than battlefield strength; the description also emphasizes that decisions have consequences beyond the immediate order.

That premise should appeal most to strategy players who enjoy weighing several kinds of action and anticipating opponents. The official descriptions establish the range of systems, but do not establish how easy they are to learn, how effective the tutorial is, or how balanced the options are. Those qualities require hands-on assessment.

Is Solium Infernum worth buying?

It is a stronger fit if you want a grand-strategy contest built around both military command and political maneuvering, and especially if you have a group interested in either sessional or asynchronous multiplayer. The eight listed single-player Chronicles offer a solo route, but the available evidence does not establish how capable the AI is or how satisfying those Chronicles are in practice.

Consider the multiplayer format before buying: asynchronous play can suit people who cannot meet for a full session, while sessional games require a group ready to play together. Current player population, matchmaking availability, price, and discounts can change, so check the live store listing rather than relying on a dated figure.

Release and add-ons

The reviewed release is a digital PC game sold on Steam. The store lists a downloadable soundtrack and the Belphegor, Paragon of Impiety add-on. League of Geeks described the soundtrack as launching with the game and Belphegor as its first DLC. No useful physical edition or official physical guide for the 2024 release was established; a surfaced manual relates to the legacy 2009 game, not this remake.

Steam reproduces TheGamer’s 4.5/5 assessment, calling the game “a flavorful, expertly designed, digital board game.” That is an external reviewer’s opinion, not a publisher claim. Store review shares and totals are volatile and should be checked on the live page.
