Some PlayStation Store users reportedly saw select PS4 games listed as free on October 6, 2026, but the listings were not universal. UK and European reports named Call of Duty: WWII and Mafia III: Definitive Edition; some US players reportedly saw titles including Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Check the store while signed in to your own regional account before assuming a game is free or available to claim.

These are reported sightings, not confirmed offers for every account. The report did not establish a single price or entitlement that applied across regions, and the listings were not independently verified against live PlayStation Store pages. MP1st’s report is the source for the named titles and regional sightings.
Are the games available in the US?
Some US players reportedly saw free listings, including Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but the report does not establish that the same titles were available to all US accounts. Store availability can differ by account and region, so the only reliable check for your account is the game’s listing in your own PlayStation Store.

How to check your account’s listing
- Open PlayStation Store while signed in to the account and region where you intend to claim the game.
- Search for the exact game and edition named in the report.
- Check the displayed price and any entitlement or subscription terms on that listing before selecting an option.
The MP1st excerpt advised checking the Standard edition if Call of Duty: WWII did not appear free, but that edition-specific listing was not independently verified. Confirm the price on the actual store page rather than relying on a report or another account’s screenshot.
Do you need PlayStation Plus?
A secondary October 6 summary said the reported European listings did not require PlayStation Plus. That detail was not confirmed by an official PlayStation source, so check the subscription and purchase terms shown on your own listing. Archynetys’ summary is secondary reporting, not an official confirmation.

Why did the listings appear, and how long will they last?
The report did not establish why the games appeared as free, how long any listing would remain, or whether individual accounts had different eligibility terms. It also did not cite a confirmed Sony explanation. Treat “mysteriously” as the report’s framing, not evidence of an announced giveaway or promotion.
