Prima Games’ walkthrough lists five endings: Resignation, Resignation Reprise, Family First, War of the Worlds, and Understanding. If by “the good ending” you mean the route that reveals the family’s story, aim for Understanding. That label is a player-facing description, not an official Jumpship category.
All five Somerville endings at a glance
| Ending | How to reach it |
|---|---|
| Resignation | In the couch illusion after finding the flare, sit with the apparent family instead of dispelling the illusion with the blue ability. Prima Games says the scene fades and returns you to the checkpoint before the flare. |
| Resignation Reprise | In the finale’s alien communication sequence, enter the family’s house when it appears. |
| Family First | Near the alien object holding the family, use the matching abilities on the blue, red, and purple glowing devices, in that order. |
| War of the Worlds | During the monolith exchange, respond with purple—both triggers—instead of following the demonstrated blue-red-blue pattern. |
| Understanding | Complete the finale’s full color-pattern exchange below. |
These names and route instructions are reported by Prima Games’ Somerville endings guide. Guides may number or group chapters differently, so use the scene descriptions to identify the relevant moments rather than relying only on chapter numbers.
How to get the Understanding ending
At the monoliths, the alien shows a color pattern and you answer with a matching input sequence. As mapped in Prima Games’ walkthrough, Blue = left trigger (LT), Red = right trigger (RT), and Purple = both triggers (LT+RT). Enter each response in order:
| Alien pattern | Your response |
|---|---|
| Blue, Red, Blue | Blue, Red, Blue |
| Blue, Blue, Red | Blue, Blue, Blue, Purple, Purple, Purple |
| Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue, Purple, Purple | Blue, Blue, Blue, Red, Purple, Purple |
| Purple, Purple, Purple, Red, Purple, Purple, Red, Red, Red | Blue, Blue, Blue, Red, Purple, Purple, Red, Red, Red |
Final response in controller inputs
For the last pattern, press LT, LT, LT, RT, LT+RT, LT+RT, RT, RT, RT. Complete the responses correctly and the monoliths disintegrate; the protagonist faces his family and the Understanding achievement is awarded, according to Prima Games.

Where to find the other four routes
Resignation
After acquiring the flare in the couch illusion, choose to sit with the apparent family rather than using the blue ability to dispel the scene. This is an optional detour; Prima Games reports that the game returns you to the checkpoint before the flare afterward.
Resignation Reprise
In the finale’s alien communication sequence, watch for the family’s house to appear and enter it. Prima Games identifies this as the route to Resignation Reprise.
Rank #2
Family First
At the alien object holding the family, interact with the nearby glowing devices in this order: blue, red, then purple. Use the corresponding ability for each device. Prima Games says this reveals the Family First ending.
War of the Worlds
During the monolith exchange, answer with purple—press both triggers—instead of reproducing the blue-red-blue pattern shown. Prima Games describes this as the violence route.

Clues, chapter select, and replaying missed endings
Optional alien drone encounters show light patterns that hint at the Understanding sequence. Gameranx recommends noting those colors as you play. After the credits, chapter select can be used to revisit subchapters and clean up missed achievements, according to Gameranx’s Somerville ending guide.
The official PlayStation listing describes Somerville as having multiple endings and lists PS4 and PS5. The detailed ending names and inputs here come from third-party walkthroughs, not an official Jumpship ending guide. Steam lists Jumpship as the game’s developer and publisher.
