SEGA announced Sonic Rumble for Android and iOS in May 2024, then launched it globally on November 5, 2025. The game is now listed as Sonic Rumble Party on SEGA’s product page, with mobile and PC cross-play support. It is free to play, with optional in-game purchases.
What is Sonic Rumble?
Sonic Rumble is a multiplayer Sonic game set in a toy world created by Dr. Eggman. Players control toy versions of Sonic characters in races, brawls, obstacle courses, and survival challenges. SEGA’s original announcement described competitions for up to 32 players, racing to collect rings and reach the finish fastest. SEGA’s May 9, 2024 announcement presented the game as a collaboration with Rovio, which SEGA said would help develop and manage it.
When did Sonic Rumble come out?
The game launched globally on November 5, 2025. Earlier release windows and projected dates were superseded by the launch date SEGA ultimately confirmed. The official global launch announcement and SEGA’s October 2025 release notice give the confirmed date.
Is Sonic Rumble available on Android and iOS?
Yes. SEGA’s current listing for Sonic Rumble Party includes Android and iOS, as well as Google Play Games and Steam. SEGA says mobile and PC cross-play is supported. Availability on a particular device can depend on its compatibility with the relevant platform; the official sources listed here do not specify device requirements. How does the gameplay work?
Players compete in stages with different objectives rather than only a single race format. SEGA’s launch descriptions name Run, Survival, Team, and Ring Battle objectives, alongside obstacle courses and brawling. The game also features character customization, skins, emotes, and the ability to play with friends.
- Run: Race through a stage toward its objective.
- Survival: Stay in the competition through a survival stage.
- Team: Compete in a team-based objective.
- Ring Battle: Focus on collecting rings.
These are SEGA’s published descriptions of the stage types, not a guarantee that each mode is available in every current event or queue. Before launch, SEGA also previewed Quick Rumble, Rival Rank, Crews, and character abilities in a February 2025 update.

Is Sonic Rumble free to play?
SEGA describes the game as free to play with optional in-game purchases. The official sources cited here do not establish current prices or detail the purchase options by region. SEGA’s 2025 launch materials also mentioned pre-registration rewards and limited-time items; those were launch promotions, not evidence that the offers remain available.
